RIV3P7 — Seventh International Meeting on Valorization and Preservation of Paleontological Heritage
07 Nov 2018 - 09 Nov 2018 • ERRACHIDIA, Morocco
Morocco is known worldwide for abundance and diverse geological heritage where one of its major components is the paleontological heritage. This later argues for a life history of several hundred million years with witness sometimes of exceptional quality and some specimens of major scientific interest. Thematic issue dealing with the protection and valorization of the geological heritage in Morocco started within the first RIV3P meeting held in 2006 at the Faculty of Sciences Semlalia in Marrakech (Morocco). Since then, biennial meeting have been held in the Faculties of Sciences : Meknes (2008), Agadir (2010), Kenitra (2012), Oujda (2014) and Casablanca (2016). The seventh edition (RIV3P7) will be organized at the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques-Errachidia aims to pursue the discussion on the protection and valorization of the Moroccan palaeontological heritage and especially to update the proposals and recommendations suggested in previous editions. The main objective would be to establish a synthesize inventory available to the rulers and public community as a tool for information and support of decision.

The seventh edition will focuses on the status and valorization of paleontological, archaeological, mineralogical collections, etc. as well as on the protection of the geological heritage through out the legislative acts. The most recent stages in the history of our planet could be traced by these collections, and Morocco is one of the countries with the most varied and diversified geological and palaeontological heritage worldwide. Promoting and involving scientific, intellectual researchers and public community about the abundance of geological heritage could be established through this manifestation within discussion, exhibitions and tours. Such geological heritage, as an open-air natural museum, could be a pillar of sustainable development of the different Moroccan regions.
