15th Kudowa Summer School "Towards fusion energy"
29 Jun 2020 - 03 Jul 2020 • Kudowa-Zdrój, Poland
Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion
The school aims to provide young scientists from different countries with courses on various aspects of plasma physics, fusion energy, plasma experiments and technology, as well as plasma diagnostics. Special emphasis is laid on magnetical confinement concepts like tokamaks and stellarators but inertial confinement research as well as plasma focus studies and plasma thrusters are also presented and discussed. The Kudowa Summer School is primarily intended for PhD students, for undergraduate students but experienced scientists who, coming from other disciplines are also welcome to participate. The school will provide an overview of the various fusion and plasma aspects, participants will have an opportunity to learn more about scientific progress on main fusion devices, meet and discuss these issues with the famous scientists.
Siegman International School on Lasers
18 Jul 2020 - 25 Jul 2020 • University of Warsaw Chęciny, Poland
The Siegman International School is a week-long program that exposes students to in-depth learning of lasers and their applications from internationally recognized academic and industry leaders in the field. The scope includes all aspects of lasers and photonics. Each summer, The Siegman International School on Lasers invites up to 100 graduate students for a week-long program to learn from pioneering laser researchers and experts from leading laser companies, highly-regarded professors and fellow students. Attendees are asked to present their own research, which provides invaluable experience in building exposure for their work.
Summer School — Formation and evolution of planetary systems and habitable planets
19 Aug 2020 - 26 Aug 2020 • Torun, Poland
Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland
The idea behind the school is to gather people from different backgrounds, incl. astronomy, geology, biology, physics, journalism and teaching, and provide them with the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary groups on solving scientific problems. The program of the school will include joint lectures - from protoplanetary discs and exoplanets to geologic features of the surfaces of Earth and Mars - and afternoon hands-on sessions in small, interdisciplinary groups. Participants will present posters and flash talks about their work at the beginning of the school. Presentations by groups of students about the results obtained as part of the school are schedules at the final day of the school.
