Polyurethanes – Trends in PU-Processing
06 Sep 2018 • Aachen, Germany
Abstract:
Polyurethanes (PU) are one of the most versatile material class in the plastic processing. Due to the high adjustability of the reactive systems regarding the resulting properties and the processing behaviour, the application field for PU has been expanded to nearly every industrial sector. Either as compact elastomer for damping solution, as flexible foam for cushioning or as coating to functionalize the surface of components and others, PU show a lot of advantages, which no other material class can obtain. Still, there are many development tasks to enable a sustainable, more cost-efficient and eco-friendly production of PU applications. This demand is fuelled by the increase of environmental governmental regulations restricting e.g. the allowed chemicals or emissions.

Polymer Testing & Analysis 2019 USA
11 Sep 2018 - 12 Sep 2018 • Pittsburgh, PA, United States
Abstract:
This conference offers the opportunity to discover and debate the latest innovations in polymer testing, characterization and analysis. Polymer testing and analysis underpins all stages of successful plastics processing. As the market demands new plastics products that are smaller, smarter, stronger and safer, so the challenges for materials suppliers, designers and specifiers increase. It is essential to understand how a material or compound will behave during processing and how a product will respond to its user and environment. How will a change in compound formulation affect the mechanical properties of an end product? How will exposure to extreme weather conditions influence the durability of a photovoltaic panel? How will cables or electrical housings behave in a fire?

Reactive Pultrusion - Approaches for a cost-efficient FRP-profile production
09 Oct 2018 • Aachen, Germany
Abstract:
As continuous process, the pultrusion offers great potential for a cost-efficient production of highly loadable profiles made of continuous fibre reinforced plastics. For a large-scale production, highly reactive resin materials are increasingly focused in current developments (e. g. polyurethanes, epoxy resins or insitu polymerizing thermoplastics). Due to the low viscosity of the constituent materials, they offer excellent impregnation properties. Thus, high performance profiles with high fibre volume contents and excellent mechanical properties can be realised. At the same time, the profile production can be realised very cost-efficient at high production speed due to the high reactivity of the material systems.
