CIGRE South Africa — 9th CIGRE Southern Africa Regional Conference
01 Oct 2019 - 04 Oct 2019 • Johannesburg, South Africa
CONSEIL INTERNATIONAL des GRANDS RESEAUX ELECTRIQUES (CIRGE)
Globally there has been an increase in the deployment of distributed energy resources (DER) in the form of renewable energy generation and microgrids. This technology presents a unique opportunity for power system development due to its low emissions, scalability, short construction time frames and diversifying the energy supply. Grid integration of DER can present challenges, be it during planning, construction or operation. The 9th CIGRE Southern Africa regional conference will provide a platform to deliberate on sustainable integration of distributed energy resources for power system development. These discussions will be between electric utilities, system operators, regulators, manufacturers and suppliers, universities, standardizing bodies, research laboratories and authorities on topics in the field of development of electrical systems in Africa.
