Our workshop on Anti-Diffusion in Multiphase and Active Flows will bring together specialists in theory, numerical simulations, and experiments to address questions including: Can we draw quantitative connections between the interfacial properties of turbulent multi-phase fluids and those of active structured fluids that can form phases with orientational order — both polar and nematic — and are important to biological applications? What are the roles of active forces and interface anchoring in renormalizing the interfacial tension and driving coarsening kinetics? Can we identify generic classes of extended systems that organize in nonequilibrium statistically steady states, with both spatial and temporal structure? How can we systematize the study of the statistical properties of particles and fields in multi-phase and active-fluid turbulence?

Anti-diffusive dynamics: from sub-cellular to astrophysical scales

The conference, which will take place at Swansea University 15-19 July 2024, is focused on exploring the rapid developments in understanding deformations of integrable theories; their application to string theory sigma models; their possible AdS/CFT applications and interpretations; their connection to higher dimensional Chern-Simons theories; and their interface with the mathematics of Poisson-Lie and non-abelian dualities.

The International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory is an annual conference that attracts scientists from around the world. Originally started as a place for physicists to discuss recent developments in lattice gauge theory, the conference is now the largest of its type and has grown to cover strongly interacting phenomena in many contexts such as particle physics phenomenology and nuclear theory, as well as algorithms, code development and machine architectures.

Eurostrings is a series of annual conferences gathering researchers from all over Europe and elsewhere, working on string theory, gauge/gravity duality, quantum gravity and quantum field theories, and the relations among them. Previous Eurostrings conferences were held in Gijon, Lyon, London, Milano, Leuven, Cambridge.

Exceptionally, this year the FPUK summer meeting and the Eurostrings conference will be combined into a joint conference hosted at Southampton. The conference will aim to showcase hep-th physics from all around Europe, including from all regions of the UK.

Fundamental Physics UK (FPUK) is an STFC-funded virtual theory centre, which coordinates theoretical physicists in the UK who work on formal topics in fundamental physics. FPUK organises annual 2.5-day summer meetings to bring together the UK hep-th community. Previous FPUK meetings were held in Durham, Swansea, among others.

Exceptionally, this year the FPUK summer meeting and the Eurostrings conference will be combined into a joint conference hosted at Southampton. The conference will aim to showcase hep-th physics from all around Europe, including from all regions of the UK.

This conference will be centred on recent progress at the intersection of algebraic geometry and string theory. It will feature four introductory survey lectures by world-leading experts, as well as more advanced research talks. We also aim to provide ample opportunity of collaboration and discussion in a workshop-style setting, usually with no more than four hours of talks each day.
