NAI — New Approaches for Investigating Nascent Peptide Folding
11. Dez 2017 - 13. Dez 2017 • Cambridge, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
This timely meeting investigates new methodologies for studying the early folding profiles of nascent proteins as they are being synthesised by ribosomes. With growing evidence, supported by several high impact publications in the last few months, that the vast majority of proteins fold into their native structures before they are released by the ribosome, this meeting aims to discuss protein folding and how it is inherently coupled to protein synthesis and chain elongation. The efficiency of these folding and targeting mechanisms is imperative to the smooth running of cellular processes.

With an introductory talk discussing how high resolution structures of the ribosome have revealed exciting information about the molecular basis of protein synthesis, given by Nobel Laureate and President of the Royal Society, Professor Venki Ramakrishnan, this will be an excellent opportunity to network and meet to discuss research.

ESCRT — New Horizons in ESCRT Biology
17. Apr 2018 - 20. Apr 2018 • London, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
The Endosomal Sorting Complex Required for Transport (ESCRT) machinery is an essential membrane-remodelling complex that is conserved throughout evolution as far back as archaea. Since their discovery in 2001 as regulators of cargo sorting to the yeast vacuole, work on the ESCRT machinery has exploded as our understanding of this machinery’s role in remodelling different membranes has grown.

Mechanisms of Recombination 2018
20. Mai 2018 - 22. Mai 2018 • London, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
Genetic recombination provides an important mechanism for the repair of chromosome breaks caused by DNA damage or replication fork demise. Defects in the recombination process have been linked to cancer predisposition, in particular breast cancers caused by mutations in BRCA1, BRCA2 and PALB2, and also acute leukemias associated with the rare genetic disease Fanconi anemia. Understanding precisely how recombination occurs is of interest to workers in the fields of meiosis, DNA repair, replication, chromosome architecture and interactions, and chromatin biology.
