Zusammenfassung:
Attend this three-day training event and gain practical skills on proteomics and metabolomics of oxidative damage and glycation. The course will provide an introduction to mass spectrometry for biochemists, biologists and biomedical scientists from PhD level and aboveParticipants are not expected to have prior knowledge of mass spectrometry, but a keen interest in protein damage and metabolites. The event will comprise lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions.

The course aims to equip participants with the practical skills required for the design and the successful implementation of experiments in proteomics and metabolomics of oxidative damage and glycation. Participants will practice different methods of sample preparation, including simple to complex mixtures and enrichment techniques. Demonstration samples will be run on our cutting-edge instrumentation and, as a delegate, you will have the opportunity to explore custom method design for your particular requirements. The course will then focus on data analysis to address protein identification, modifications and quantification.

G Proteins — Small G proteins in cellular signalling and disease
09. Jul 2018 - 12. Jul 2018 • cambridge, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
Small G proteins regulate a plethora of cell signalling pathways thus impacting on most biological processes. As a result of their broad spread cellular influence, the deregulation of these proteins and their pathways often results in disease, especially cancer. The interest, both academic and commercial, in these proteins has always been intense, but with the instigation of the Ras Initiative by the NCI in 2013, interest is newly invigorated. Hopes are high that new ways being developed will successfully target cancers driven by mutant Ras.

Protein disulphide bonds-biochemistry, biotechnology and biomedical impact
31. Aug 2018 - 01. Sep 2018 • Kent, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
The majority of proteins secreted by eukaryotic cells are subject to an array of post-translational modifications including intra- and inter-chain disulphide bonds. The pathway of synthesis and export of secreted proteins has been actively researched for over half a century. Fundamental enzymology and protein science continues on the mechanisms of disulphide bond formation alongside work with a more cell biological perspective on the oxidative protein folding pathway in the endoplasmic reticulum and its interaction with the secretory and protein degradation pathways.

84th Harden Conference: Single-molecule bacteriology
09. Sep 2018 - 12. Sep 2018 • Oxford, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
he meeting will cover structural/mechanistic studies of processes using super-resolution imaging and single-molecule methods (tracking, bleaching, co-localisation, FRET). Many processes involve nucleic acids (chromosome organization, DNA replication, repair, recombination, and segregation, gene expression, CRISPR mechanisms), whereas others relate to signal transduction, cell division, cell-wall biosynthesis, and motility. The meeting will also explore new quantitative in vivo techniques applicable to bacteria: theoretical approaches (modelling stochastic gene expression), microfluidics, site-specific labelling, cytological profiling, high-throughput approaches). A third theme will involve studies of clinical/commercial significance (biofilms, pathogenic bacteria, bacterial persistence, antibiotic resistance).
