MAXI 10 Year Workshop for the Time Domain Astronomy
10. Mär 2020 - 12. Mär 2020 • Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo Institute of Technology
We invite you to participate in the "MAXI 10-year workshop" to celebrate the decade of successful operation of MAXI, or Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image, an X-ray all-sky monitor onboard the Japanese Experiment Module of the International Space Station.
IAU Symposium 360 Astropol2020 Astronomical Polarimetry 2020 -- New Era of Multi-Wavelength Polarimetry
23. Mär 2020 - 27. Mär 2020 • Hiroshima, Japan
International Astronomical Union (IAU)
Astronomical Polarimetry 2020 (Astropol 2020) is the next in a series of international conferences. The aim of this series of conferences is to bring researchers interested in astronomical polarimetry together to share and discuss recent results and advances in technical and scientific aspects in all relevant astronomical fields.
Cosmic Cartography 2020 — Exploring the Cosmic Web and Large-Scale Structure
06. Apr 2020 - 10. Apr 2020 • Kashiwanoha, Japan
Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU), University of Tokyo
Going into the 2020s, cosmic large scale structure will be mapped with increasing detail by the next generation of observational facilities operating at various wavelengths (radio, optical, infra-red) and exploiting various techniques. Meanwhile, theory and simulations are increasing in sophistication in their ability to describe large-scale structure. These advances could potentially allow greater constraints into cosmological parameters and theories of galaxy evolution. The goal of this meeting at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU) is to bring together a diverse group of researchers working on the cosmic web, its various tracers, and their embedded galaxies from both observational and theoretical perspectives. Time-Domain Cosmology with Strong Gravitational Lensing
13. Apr 2020 - 15. Apr 2020 • Kashiwa, Japan
Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU)
This workshop will focus on applications of strong gravitational lensing to do cosmology, particularly with time-domain observations. This would include time-delay lensed quasars to determine the Hubble constant, lensed supernovae from future surveys, microlensing to detect dark compact objects, the effects of substructure lensing, and lensed gravitational waves, among other topics.
SPIE Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation 2020
14. Jun 2020 - 19. Jun 2020 • Yokohama, Japan
EANAM2020 — The 9-th East Asian Numerical Astrophysics Meeting
14. Sep 2020 - 18. Sep 2020 • Tenbusu Naha, Okinawa, Japan
Numerical simulations have become even more important as detailed comparisons between theories and observations are now possible at a deeper level in most fields of astrophysics. The aim of this series of meetings is to bring (but not limited to) East-Asian numerical astrophysicists together and provide chances to learn each other's work and explore possible collaborations among them. The scope of the meeting will encompass all major astronomical research fields that involve numerical simulations, including (but not limited to) cosmology, astronomical hydrodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, radiative transfer, particle acceleration, and planetary / stellar / galactic dynamics. In addition, there will also be a focus on computer science applications directed toward astrophysics including numerical methods, simulation data analysis, high performance computing, and optimization for use on large scale computer clusters. Participants from outside of the East Asia are warmly welcome as well.
01. Apr 2021 - 07. Apr 2021 • Kyoto, Japan
