SPIE OP19 — SPIE Optics + Photonics 2019
11. Aug 2019 - 15. Aug 2019 • San Diego, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung:
Optics and photonics are enabling technologies that are part of our daily lives—from energy efficiency to healthcare. Advancements in these areas will help us to better respond to social and environmental challenges of our future. It’s these advancements that will be highlighted at the SPIE Optics + Photonics conference this August in San Diego, California. The conference topics include this year within the areas of nanoscience, organic photonics, optical engineering and applications, and astronomical instrumentation. With more than 70 conferences, 3,300 technical presentations, 40 courses, 4,000 attendees, and 180 exhibiting companies, SPIE Optics + Photonics offers both classic and cutting-edge optics and photonics research, training, and product information. Join your peers at SPIE Optics + Photonics 2019 – and get the kind of technical information, professional training, hardware and market intelligence that is key to success in today's changing job and technology landscape. SPIE Optics + Photonics is the largest international, multidisciplinary optical sciences and technology meeting in North America. With three symposia, find the latest research in these four areas: Optical Engineering + Applications, NanoScience + Engineering, and Organic Photonics + Electronics.

Theory and Computation for 2D Materials
13. Jan 2020 - 17. Jan 2020 • Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM),, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung:
The unique electronic, optical, and mechanical properties of 2D materials have sparked an extraordinary level of experimental, theoretical, and computational activity in the materials science and physics communities. Interest in the mathematics community has recently emerged to develop rigorous foundations, improved models, and computational methods. This IPAM workshop will enable exchanges among the mathematics community and the theoretical and computational materials science and physics communities working on 2D materials. Topics to be discussed include electronic structure, transport, plasmonics, and mechanics. The workshop will include a poster session; a request for posters will be sent to registered participants in advance of the workshop.

AIM Workshop: Mathematics of topological insulators
16. Mär 2020 - 20. Mär 2020 • New York, New York, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung:
This workshop, sponsored by AIM, the Simons Foundation, and the NSF, will consider the role of topology in characterizing materials and in the prediction of their physical properties, particularly for two-dimensional material such as graphene. The focus will be on important mathematical questions at the interface of the analysis and topology in the context of the governing fundamental partial differential equations and other models. Two such questions are the bulk edge correspondence and the existence and robustness of edge states in aperiodic settings.
