26th International Conference on DNA Computing and Molecular Programming
13 sep 2020 - 18 sep 2020 • University of Oxford, Royaume-Uni
Organisateur:
Institute of Physics – IOP
Résumé:
Biomolecular computing has emerged as an interdisciplinary field that draws together molecular biology, chemistry, computer science and mathematics. Our knowledge on DNA nanotechnology and biomolecular computing increases exponentially with every passing year. The annual international meeting in the field began in 1995 right after the landmark work by L. Adleman, who solved an instance of the Hamiltonian path problem by DNA molecules and opened the door to this new field. Since then, the meeting has been a forum where scientists with different backgrounds, yet sharing a common interest in biomolecular computing meet, and present their latest results.

EMBL Course: Single-Cell Omics
15 nov 2020 - 21 nov 2020 • Heidelberg, Allemagne
Résumé:
The analysis of single cells advances research in many fields. To properly deal with such minute amounts of sample, each step of the workflow is critical, from sampling to data analysis. Additionally, the integration of data from different approaches is becoming increasingly important to capture the whole picture. This course will cover established techniques from sampling through sequencing, protein analysis and data analysis. Samples will be collected via flow cytometry, gene expression will be analysed by qRTPCR and next generation sequencing, and protein analysis will be performed by proximity extension assays. In addition, alternative methods for the whole workflow will be covered in interactive sessions of lectures and Q&A with key experts in the field. Data collected by the different methods will be analysed during in-depth sessions, which are a strong component of the course.

Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Pathogen Genomics
21 mar 2021 - 26 mar 2021 • Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada
Organisateur:
Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS)
Résumé:
Technological advances have revolutionized our ability to observe the evolution of infections that are posing major global health challenges. However, using these new and high-resolution sources of data to improve health requires new theory -- new mathematical structures to understand patterns of ancestry and evolution in infectious diseases, new ways to map how antibiotic resistance emerges and spreads and new methods to combine data, modelling, inference and machine learning. This workshop will bring together mathematicians and statisticians, methods developers and biologists gathering state-of-the-art large datasets in pathogen genomics. The aims are to share not only mathematics and methods, but upcoming challenges and aims, and to ensure that large genomic datasets and the people that gather them have a voice in shaping methods and models towards the questions of the highest importance for pathogen evolution and ultimately for health.
