TICT2020 — Topics in Category Theory: A Spring School
11 mar 2020 - 13 mar 2020 • Edinburgh, Royaume-Uni
Résumé:
This Spring School will gather together PhD students and junior researchers who use category-theoretic ideas or techniques in their research. It will provide a forum to learn about important themes in contemporary category theory, both from experts and from each other. Three invited speakers will each present a three-hour mini-course, accessible to non-specialists, introducing an area of active research. There will also be short talks contributed by PhD students and postdocs, and a poster session. The focus of the Spring School is on aspects of pure category theory as they interact with research in other areas of algebra, geometry, topology and logic. Any "categorical thinker" - that is, any mathematician whose work makes use of categorical ideas - is welcome to participate.

New Perspectives on SYZ Mirror Symmetry
20 mar 2020 - 01 avr 2020 • Londres, Royaume-Uni
Organisateur:
https://sites.google.com/view/imperial-syz
Résumé:
The workshop provides an international forum for recent advances in mirror symmetry, with an emphasis on the celebrated SYZ conjecture. Various approaches to this conjecture, based on algebraic, symplectic and non-archimedean geometry, will be presented. Along with more focused research-oriented talks, there will be special talks aimed at establishing links among different points of view .

7th Biennial IMA Conference on Numerical Linear Algebra and Optimization
24 jui 2020 - 26 jui 2020 • Birmingham, Royaume-Uni
Organisateur:
Institute of Mathematics & its Applications (IMA)
Résumé:
The IMA is pleased to announce the Seventh Biennial IMA Conference on Numerical Linear Algebra and Optimization. The meeting is co-sponsored by SIAM, whose members will receive the IMA members’ registration rate. The success of modern codes for large-scale optimization is heavily dependent on the use of effective tools of numerical linear algebra. On the other hand, many problems in numerical linear algebra lead to linear, nonlinear or semidefinite optimization problems. The purpose of the conference is to bring together researchers from both communities and to find and communicate points and topics of common interest. Conference topics include any subject that could be of interest to both communities

Manifolds and K-theory: the legacy of Andrew Ranicki
29 jui 2020 - 03 jul 2020 • Edinburgh, Royaume-Uni
Organisateur:
International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Edinburgh; UK
Résumé:
Andrew Ranicki and his theory of algebraic surgery played a central role in linking manifold theory, algebraic K-theory, and its close cousin L-theory. These areas have seen great developments and advances in the last decade from distinct research communities. This workshop will bring together mathematicians working on the topology of high-dimensional manifolds and their automorphisms with those working on the algebraic K-theory (and its cousins hermitian K-theory and L-theory) of rings and ring spectra, in order to share recent progress in these areas and kindle a fresh interaction between them.
