Entropy 2018: From Physics to Information Sciences and Geometry
14 mai 2018 - 16 mai 2018 • Barcelona, Espagne
One of the most frequently used scientific words, is the word „Entropy“. The reason is that it is related to two main scientific domains:  physics  and  information theory. Its origin goes back to the start of physics (thermodynamics), but since Shannon, it has become related to information theory. This conference is an opportunity to bring researchers of these two communities together and create a synergy.

Exploring identity: lessons from genomes and epigenomes
31 mai 2018 • Paris, France
Exploring the determinants of identity raises significant challenges with far-reaching consequences for both our fundamental understanding of living systems and our ability to intervene clinically to re-establish identity in pathological scenarios. Genomes and epigenomes respond dynamically to changes in the local environment, contributing to defining identities and transmitting memories to subsequent generations. This interplay creates the complexity and adaptability that define living systems. During the one-day symposium, we will discuss how genome organization and epigenome function contribute to the regulation of gene expression and cellular identities.

Annual Meeting CSHPM
04 jui 2018 - 06 jui 2018 • Université du Québec à Montréa, Canada
The Canadian Society for History and Philosophy of Mathematics (CSHPM) will be holding its 2018 Annual Meeting at UQAM in conjunction with the 2018 Canadian Philosophy Association (CPA) Meeting. The meeting will be held June 4-6, 2018. The theme of the special session will be the History of the Philosophy of Mathematics. Talks in either English or French are welcome, as are presentations about work in progress. Graduate students are especially welcome to present their work. All graduate students who present are eligible for the CSHPM Student Award. Please send your title and abstract (200 words or less) in Word, (non-scanned) PDF, or in the body of an email by February 1, 2018 to: Eisso Atzema, Department of Mathematics & Statistics, University of Maine, Orono, ME 4469, United States, (general session) or Dirk Schlimm, Department of Philosophy, McGill University, Montreal, QC H3A 2T7, Canada, (special session)

The ESU is more a collection of intensive courses than a conference for researchers. It is a place where teachers and researchers meet and work together. It is also a place where beginners, more experienced researchers and teachers present their teaching experience to the benefit of the participants and get a constructive feedback from them. It refers to all levels of education – from primary school, to tertiary education – including in-service teachers’ training.

NeutrinoHistory2018 — History of the Neutrino
05 sep 2018 - 07 sep 2018 • Paris, France
Neutrinos play an exceptional role as well in particle or nuclear physics as in astrophysics. The purpose of the Conference is to cover the main steps of their History since the brilliant and inspired idea of Pauli in December 1930. Though trying to cover all the facets of this fascinating particle, it should be considered as a contribution to the History of the Neutrino, since some chapters are still to be written. The objective is, on each topic, to have an historian/historical approach and follow as close as possible the original papers in correlation with the scientific and historical context.

7OSME — The 7th International Meeting on Origami in Science, Mathematics and Education
05 sep 2018 - 07 sep 2018 • Oxford University, Royaume-Uni
The Origami, Science, Mathematics, and Education (OSME) meetings offer researchers from science, engineering, mathematics, design, art, and education that use origami (or folding in any medium) in their work. Uses of origami in engineering and science applications, as well as in art and design, has exploded over the past 10 years, as had study of the mathematics of paper folding and its use as an engaging and effective educational tool. The OSME conferences have taken place every 4-6 years since 1989. The Proceedings of the 6th OSME conference (Univ. of Tokyo, 2014) was published by the AMS. In 2018 the 7th such conference will be held at St. Anne's College, Oxford University.
