1.go to top of page[ID=408580]Summer School on cross-national comparisons
28 Aug 2011 → 04 Sep 2011; Leuven, Belgium

abstract: Making comparisons over countries can be a very effective strategy for gaining understanding in social reality. Comparative research allows research to distinguish between universal and particular phenomena, and makes it possible to identify how individual values, opinions and behaviours are influenced by the national context. For these reasons, it is hardly surprising that comparative research occupies a high position on the international research agenda.

This summer school focuses on analysis methods for cross-national comparisons. The techniques covered are structural equation modeling, multilevel analysis, and latent class analysis. The general format will be topical lectures in morning sessions, with computer labs in the afternoon sessions. In addition to the statistics, there will also be lectures and discussions on more general methodological issues, in which invited speakers takes part.
