FASEB SRC: Virus Structure and Assembly
22. Jul 2018 - 27. Jul 2018 • Steamboat Springs, CO, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung:
This FASEB SRC will focus on virus assembly, virus structure, and structure-based mechanisms of virus replication (entry, replication, virus-host interactions). Studies in these areas provide insight into a multitude of cellular processes from the perspective of relatively simple and relatively easy to manipulate organisms, viruses and bacteriophages. Moreover, these cellular processes are critical for the pathogenicity of infectious viruses and therefore are targets for established and novel antiviral therapeutics. Many new therapies are a direct result of basic scientific investigations, which have been the emphasis of past FASEB Virus Structure and Assembly conferences.

Protein disulphide bonds-biochemistry, biotechnology and biomedical impact
31. Aug 2018 - 01. Sep 2018 • Kent, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
The majority of proteins secreted by eukaryotic cells are subject to an array of post-translational modifications including intra- and inter-chain disulphide bonds. The pathway of synthesis and export of secreted proteins has been actively researched for over half a century. Fundamental enzymology and protein science continues on the mechanisms of disulphide bond formation alongside work with a more cell biological perspective on the oxidative protein folding pathway in the endoplasmic reticulum and its interaction with the secretory and protein degradation pathways.

FASEB SRC: Small GTPases in Membrane Processes: Trafficking, Autophagy and Disease
23. Sep 2018 - 28. Sep 2018 • Leesburg, VA, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung:
The fields of membrane trafficking in general and autophagy in particular got the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2013 and 2016, respectively. This work laid the foundation for understanding these processes at a mechanistic detail and high precision. The question of how membrane structure and function is regulated is highly relevant to human health and disease. Regulation of membrane-associated processes is a very dynamic field relevant to various disciplines, from neuroscience to cell and developmental biology. Small GTPases have emerged as important regulators of all membrane trafficking processes. These GTPases together with their various interactors regulate intracellular trafficking, organelle dynamics, proteostasis, signaling and metabolism. Mutations in these molecules result in human diseases, from inherited to complex disorders. For example, dis-regulation of small GTPase networks has been implicated in multiple diseases, including cancer and neurological disorders.

MMCS2019 — 2nd Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium - Facing Novel Challenges in Drug Discovery
15. Mai 2019 - 17. Mai 2019 • Barcelona, Spanien
Zusammenfassung:
The 2nd Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium (MMCS): Facing Novel Challenges in Drug Discovery to be held in Barcelona, Spain, 15–17 May 2019, is organized by MDPI, the publisher of the open-access journal Molecules and follows the very successful one-day meeting, Molecules Medicinal Chemistry Symposium (MMCS): Emerging Drug Discovery Approaches against Infectious Diseases, held in September 2017 at the School of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the University of Barcelona, Spain, which turned out to be a very fruitful forum for discussion on the specific topic of anti-infective drug discovery, in an excellent atmosphere created by the more than 70 attendees from 18 countries.

Encouraged by the great success of the initial small-format monographic MMCS2017, the three-day MMCS2019 will grow naturally by addressing a larger audience and essentially all topics of medicinal chemistry. The MMCS2019 will be organized into a number of thematic sessions on medicinal chemistry of particularly challenging diseases, novel and revisited drug discovery approaches, and medicinal chemistry stories about recently implemented projects in any area not covered in the other sessions, from target and hit identification to hit-to-lead optimization, tuning of physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties, preclinical and clinical development, etc.

Two prominent and inspiring keynote speakers per session will share the program with a number of selected oral communications, especially by young researchers. The program will be complemented by poster presentations, and social events on the second day of the conference.
