Computation in geometric topology

Zusammenfassung:
The workshop is associated with the year-long Warwick Symposium on Geometry, Topology and Dynamics in Low Dimensions, and will bring together researchers in these subjects who have worked extensively with computers, researchers with problems which might be amenable to computer assistance, and researchers who are primarily interested in the practical and theoretical computer problems arising from work done in these areas. The emphasis will be on communication among these different groups, discussing theoretical questions of computability and complexity as well as more concrete practical computational tools. Organizers are Nathan Dunfield, Stephan Tillmann and Saul Schleimer.

ICHSA 2018 — 4th international conference on Harmony search, Soft computing and Applications

ICHSA is a four year old international conference. ICHSA was first held in 2014 at Korea University, Seoul, South Korea and attracted a large number of researchers from different part of the world. The second and third series of ICHSA were then organized in South Korea and Spain, respectively with a grand success. The harmony search algorithm (HSA) is one of the most well-known techniques in the field of soft computing, motivated by the behavioural patterns observed in music composition. The HSA was developed in 2001, since then the algorithm is showing its dominance to other optimization solvers in a plethora of application scenarios. Since the worldwide scientific and research community is witnessing an upsurge of new ground breaking innovations in all areas of computational intelligence, more focused on bio-inspired optimization, evolutionary computation and soft computing techniques. This conference will fill the bridge by gathering the most notable individuals researching in the field of Soft computing, Harmony search algorithm and their related applications.

ICERM Semester Workshop: Computational Challenges in the Theory of Lattices

This workshop will focus on the computational aspects of the theory of Euclidean lattices and on their applications to other areas in mathematics and computer science. It will put emphasis on computational challenges on lattice problems that have recently arisen from unexpected connections to other domains such as algebraic topology, automorphic forms, or cryptography. A major goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from different areas, working with Euclidean lattices, and to facilitate their interactions. Topics will include the reduction theory of lattices and its applications, Voronoi algorithms and their use to compute the cohomology of arithmetic groups, the classification of lattice genera and the computation of spaces of modular forms, the algorithmic aspects of lattice based cryptography, in particular the relationship between the security of cryptographic primitives and the hardness of lattice problems.
