Im Kolloquium zum GI-Dissertationspreis 2023 stellen die durch ihre Hochschule Nominierten die Ergebnisse ihrer Dissertationen vor, die im Jahr 2023 im Bereich der Informatik abgeschlossen worden sind. Die Themen decken das gesamte Spektrum der Informatik ab - von den Grundlagen über Systeme bis zu Anwendungen. Das Kolloquium liefert ein aktuelles Bild der Forschung der besten Nachwuchswissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz in der Informatik.

The annual meeting of German Research Training Groups (RTG) traditionally held for almost 30 years brings together young researchers from Germany and beyond to present and discuss their work, share ideas and network and start potential collaborations. The 2024 edition focuses on computer science in both theory and applications. Participating RTGs bridging the gap between computer science and research fields, such as medicine and law, showcase the increasing interdisciplinary of computer science based research, and the broad impact of computer science methods into diverse application areas.

This summer school is an intensive course on software techniques for data management and database management. Topics include database command translation and query optimization, query execution and indexing, row- and column-oriented storage structures and algorithms, optimistic and pessimistic concurrency control, logging and recovery, replication and high availability, scalability and cloud computing, and more. The goal of lectures and presentations is to understand classic techniques and to link them to industrial reality and to research opportunities. The target audience are recent MS graduates who have already taken 2-3 courses covering data management software and who are embarking on a career in industrial development or in academic research in related topics.

This is a School organized by the ErUM-Data-Hub with support from DIG-UM.

In this school you will learn how Python code can be accelerated. A focus will be placed on numeric NumPy-like array computations. In addition, running these array computations on hardware accelerators, i.e., GPUs, will play a key role in this school. The school is intended for young researchers - especially for PhD students - who regularly work with the scientific Python ecosystem. Requirements are good knowledge of the scientific Python ecosystem, basics of the C++ programming language are beneficial.
