12. Jun 2017 - 15. Jun 2017 • Paris, Frankreich
Zusammenfassung:
The energy mix is changing but the world will need every form of energy - both fossil and renewable - to meet its growing demands. Our ability to respond effectively to all the changes in our industry especially during this low oil and gas price cycle, determines whether we stay in a time of crises or move to that of opportunity. In order to survive and ultimately thrive again, we need to change and adapt our approaches and historical norms. On behalf of the LAC, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 2017 EAGE in Paris. It’s time to open a new Chapter.

Computational Modelling '17
13. Jun 2017 - 14. Jun 2017 • Falmouth, Großbritannien
Zusammenfassung:
This, the 6th International Computational Modelling Symposium (Computational Modelling '17) is organised by Minerals Engineering International (MEI). Media Sponsors are International Mining. Computational modelling is the use of fundamental physical equations to predict the behaviour of complex systems. Techniques include Discrete Element Modelling (DEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Methods (FEM). Due to rapid increases in computing power, it is now possible to carry out highly sophisticated and realistic simulations of scientific and engineering processes. Computational modelling has become an indispensable adjunct to the traditional modes of investigation via theory and experiment, and is increasingly viewed as ‘a peer methodology to experiment and theory’.

Excel VBA For Engineers — “Advanced Excel VBA For Engineers and Scientists” Short Course
26. Jun 2017 - 27. Jun 2017 • Vancouver, Kanada
Zusammenfassung:
More than 90% of quantitative professionals (inclusive of Engineers, scientists and analysts) use Excel at a basic level. Yet possibly less than 10% would have received any guidance on how to use Excel effectively. Hence many professionals use Excel in a manner that much of their work is not shared effectively with their colleagues leading to a significant loss in productivity.

Indeed there are ‘Horror stories’ where poor Excel management has lead to millions of dollars in direct losses through wholesale loss of data and models.

The course focuses on providing a strategy to ensure that Excel is used efficiently. At the end of the course participants will be invited to estimate the efficiency gain that is provided by using the strategies of the course.

Uranium Processing — “Uranium Ore Processing” Short Course
18. Sep 2017 - 19. Sep 2017 • Vancouver, Kanada
Zusammenfassung:
Uranium is known to occur in over 200 different minerals but most of these do not occur in deposits of sufficient grade to warrant economic extraction. Uranium ore can be extracted by open pit, underground or in-situ mining methods. Uranium mill process flowsheets and unit operations for yellow cake production vary based on chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the ore to be processed. Ore characteristics are a particularly important component of the understanding the process development. Numerous other factors such as geology, radiation safety, economics, geography, environment, and regulations can change the uranium ore processing technology selection criteria.

Water & Waste Water Treatment — “Water Treatment & Management in Mining and Mineral Processing” Short Course
25. Sep 2017 - 26. Sep 2017 • Vancouver, Kanada
Zusammenfassung:
Water is fundamental to mining and mineral industry and widely used for processing and treatment, heating, cooling, dust suppression, etc. Managing water and effluent discharge quality throughout the mine life is key to efficient mining and has a big role in mining environmental impact and footprint.

Treatment technologies often must deal with regulatory requirements, environmental sensitivity, social issues and conflicts and there are risks associated with each option. Mining companies must treat wastewater to highest standards, need to recycle and have commitment to sustainable water use.

In this course we introduce participants the basic concepts of available technologies and operations involved in treatment and managing water and waste water in mining and mineral industries.

Metallurgical Testwork — “Metallurgical Testwork, Interpretation & Process Design” Short Course
19. Okt 2017 - 20. Okt 2017 • Vancouver, Kanada
Zusammenfassung:
The metallurgical testwork program is generally the most important critical path item for process design of a circuit and if it is not implemented in a well-structured and framed way by an experienced subject matter expert it can become the main reason of a mining project fatal flow. Not two ore bodies are the same. Although development of a suitable process flowsheet to treat an orebody appears to be a relatively straightforward, selecting the optimum process whilst maintaining the maximum recovery and revenue is a complex task. Aspects of metallurgical test program ranging from initial sample selection and ore characterisation to understand metallurgical response of an ore to complex pilot tests. It is necessary to develop metallurgical testplan that can cater for the variability in the orebody, whilst still providing optimum economics on the majority of the process plant feed.

Uranium Processing — “Uranium Ore Processing” Short Course
20. Nov 2017 - 21. Nov 2017 • Toronto, Kanada

Comminution '18
16. Apr 2018 - 19. Apr 2018 • Kapstadt, Südafrika
Zusammenfassung:
MEI's Comminution conferences are established as the main events for profiling cutting edge research and innovation in all aspects of crushing, grinding and ultrafine grinding in the minerals industry. We strongly encourage a good balance between industrially based and academic research papers showing the benefits of basing practical application on scientific rigour, such as the industrial validation of models and control techniques.

Biohydrometallurgy '18
11. Jun 2018 - 13. Jun 2018 • Windhoek, Namibia
Zusammenfassung:
This, the 9th International Symposium on Biohydrometallurgy (Biohydromet '18), is organised by MEI with Prof Sue Harrison, Dr Patrick d'Hugues and Dr Chris Bryan. Biohydromet '18 will focus on the latest developments in the field of biohydrometallurgy: the development, optimisation and application of integrated biomining process operations for mineral ores, including low grade and complex ores; the microbiology of biomining and the application of biohydrometallurgy to novel resources (such as mine and electronic wastes) and the (bio)remediation of mining-impacted environments.

Sustainable Minerals '18
14. Jun 2018 - 15. Jun 2018 • Windhoek, Namibia
Zusammenfassung:
This, the 5th International Symposium on Sustainable Minerals '18, is organised by MEI in consultation with Prof Markus Reuter. The rapid growth of the world economy is straining the sustainable use of the Earth’s natural resources due to modern society’s extensive use of metals, materials and products. An astute and conscious application and use of metals, materials and products supported by the reuse and recycling of these materials and end-of-life products is imperative to the preservation of the Earth’s resources. The realisation of the ambitions of sustainable use of metals, materials and resources demands that the different disciplines of the material and consumer product system are connected and harmonised. This conference will discuss all aspects of material and metal usage.
