Organisateur:
BDG Lifesciences (OPC) Private Limited
Résumé:
Advancement of technologies like genome sequencing and metagenomics has given the scientists to study the microbes along with their function resulting in microbiome research. Innovation & creativity is an integral part of the BDG Lifesciences and we always launch new programs on the newest topics. We have launched a 1-day Hands-on Bioinformatics Workshop on MetaGenomics Analysis in 16S rRNA | Amplicon Sequencing Data Analysis in which we will teach about the Metagenomics analysis of Amplicon sequencing, where sequences were only the rRNA or ribosomal DNA of organisms generated through HTS (high throughput sequencing) reads to identify species in microbial or environmental DNA samples. The aim of this training course is to determine the micro-organisms from which the sequences in our sample are coming from, this is called taxonomic assignation. We try to assign sequences to taxons and then classify or extract the taxonomy in our sample. It will be an extensive hands-on training program in which participants will run the processes of MetaGenomics analysis on their own computer systems with complete learning of technology. The course will be of great help to students/ researchers/ faculty/ scientists in learning this latest technology to analyze the Sequencing Data.

Résumé:
Systems biology is a still expanding field of research aiming to understand at the molecular level how cells, tissues and organism operate in their biological context. Among the key technologies driving this forward are next-generation sequencing and proteomics, as they provide powerful means to determine global expression levels of genes and proteins. Both fields have matured to a degree that they have now become accessible to researchers in many areas of biology. During this course participants will gain theoretical insight in the structure of sequencing and proteomic data, and will receive training in data analysis using various computational tools.

Computational Approaches to the Analysis of Biomolecular Sequences, Structures and Their Functions and Applications to Biotechnology and Clinical Data Studies
23 mar 2020 - 27 mar 2020 • Singapore, Singapour
Organisateur:
Institute for Mathematical Sciences/National University of Singapore
Résumé:
Any biological function is a result of the evolutionary trade-off, where sequences provide a foundation for evolutionary variability and natural selection on the basis of the fitness and efficacy of corresponding structures and functions. In-depth understanding of biomolecules would ultimately allow one to aim at engineering and design of desired biological activities. The ease and speed at which sequence and structure data are obtained nowadays do not only prompt researches to integrate experimental and computational tools, but also force them to challenge existing concepts, driving experimental biology towards more quantitative realms. Omics technologies, in turn, deliver a wealth of exponentially growing high-throughput data, which becomes a must in medical practice. Therefore, there is a strong need for development of theoretical models and computational frameworks for the analysis and crosslinking the omics outputs with clinical data, and for further use it in biomedical applications. The goal of this workshop is to cover some of the important topics on theoretical modelling and simulations of biomolecular evolution, protein sequence and 3D structure, and the dynamical relationship with biomolecular function and how to use them to bridge the gap to phenotype and clinical application.

EMBL Course: Whole Transcriptome Data Analysis
28 sep 2020 - 02 oct 2020 • Heidelberg, Allemagne
Résumé:
This course will teach the biological researchers how to analyse biological data sets using open-source software. Most of the analysis will be performed with docker4seq package, which was developed to facilitate the use of computing demanding applications in the field of NGS data analysis. Docker4seq package uses docker containers that embed demanding computing tasks (e.g. short reads mapping) into isolated containers. This approach provides multiple advantages: the user does not need to install all the software on its local server, the results generated by different containers can be organised in pipelines and reproducible research is guarantee by the possibility of sharing the docker images used for the analysis.

EMBO | EMBL Symposium: Biological Oscillators: Design, Mechanism, Function
09 nov 2020 - 11 nov 2020 • Heidelberg, Allemagne
Résumé:
Oscillations are abundant - from hormonal oscillations with periods of days and months, to genetic fluctuations in the range of hours (circadian clock, embryonic oscillators), and metabolic and biochemical oscillations in the order of minutes (glycolytic oscillations) and seconds (Calcium-dynamics) - oscillations are central to biology across different temporal and spatial scales. At this symposium multiple disciplines will come together in order to discuss common mechanisms underlying the generation of oscillations. This symposium aims to further strengthen a new, highly interdisciplinary community composed of scientists from very different fields and who share a common interest in oscillatory phenomena and biological dynamics. As such, this meeting provides a unique platform for this emerging new community working at the interface between quantitative biology, complex oscillatory systems and physics.
