Cosmology and Gravitational Physics with Lambda
17. Aug 2018 • Stockholm, Schweden
Zusammenfassung:
Almost a century ago Einstein’s seminal paper 'Cosmological Considerations in the General Theory of Relativity' (2 August 1917) proposed a game changing addition to his theory of general relativity: Lambda, the cosmological constant. Since then, and in particular from the remarkable experimental data gathered during the last two decades, the cosmological constant has gone from a theoretical sideline to a central feature of research in cosmology and quantum gravity, including the effective Λ of inflation, the observed Λ of the late time acceleration of our universe, and the negative Λ of the gauge/gravity correspondence in string theory. Theoreticians and philosophers have been fascinated and aggravated by 'the Lambda Problem' for a century. The advent of precision cosmology has made this an issue of practical relevance, and this workshop will be productive through critiquing and advancing theoretical approaches within the constraints of observations.

NeutrinoHistory2018 — History of the Neutrino
05. Sep 2018 - 07. Sep 2018 • Paris, Frankreich
Zusammenfassung:
Neutrinos play an exceptional role as well in particle or nuclear physics as in astrophysics. The purpose of the Conference is to cover the main steps of their History since the brilliant and inspired idea of Pauli in December 1930. Though trying to cover all the facets of this fascinating particle, it should be considered as a contribution to the History of the Neutrino, since some chapters are still to be written. The objective is, on each topic, to have an historian/historical approach and follow as close as possible the original papers in correlation with the scientific and historical context.

SIGRAV2018 — 23rd SIGRAV conference
09. Sep 2018 - 15. Sep 2018 • Santa Margherita di Pula (Cagliari), Italien
Zusammenfassung:
The 23rd edition of the conference will be dedicated to black holes. Einstein’s gravitational theory predicts the existence of black holes, objects so compact that light cannot escape their gravitational field. Several types of black hole may exist: mini black holes, stellar black holes, and supermassive black holes with millions of solar masses. Experimental evidence for the existence of stellar and supermassive black holes continues to mount, so what was once considered to be science fiction, has now become reality. In this conference, an overview on all aspects of black-hole physics will be given. In particular, we will discuss observations of black holes in galactic centres and in binary systems, the theory of accretion disks, the description of black holes in general relativity and in alternative theories of gravity, as well as the thermodynamics of black holes and Hawking radiation.

Cosmology - The Next Decade
03. Jan 2019 - 25. Jan 2019 • Bangalore, Indien
Zusammenfassung:
We are at a very exciting time in cosmology as we make new proposals for cosmological experiments and wait for the next generation of the already approved experiments to become operational. The nature of data that will be provided by the next generation of cosmological experiments would be overwhelming quantitatively (in the case of large scale structure surveys) and very different from the current data sets qualitatively (in the case of the CMB spectral distortions and polarization and 21 cm experiments). There are also large gaps — mainly driven by astrophysical uncertainties in our theoretical understanding of the large scale structure; these must be filled in order to get the full benefit of these new data sets.

ACAT 2019 — 19th International Workshop on Advanced Computing and Analysis Techniques in Physics Research
11. Mär 2019 - 15. Mär 2019 • Saas-Fee, Schweiz
Zusammenfassung:
The 19th edition of ACAT will bring together experts to explore and confront the boundaries of computing, automated data analysis, and theoretical calculation technologies, in particle and nuclear physics, astronomy and astrophysics, cosmology, accelerator science and beyond. ACAT provides a unique forum where these disciplines overlap with computer science, allowing for the exchange of ideas and the discussion of cutting-edge computing, data analysis and theoretical calculation technologies in fundamental physics research. There is a fundamental shift occurring in how computing is used in research in general and data analysis in particular. The abundance of inexpensive, powerful, easy to use computing power in the form of CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, etc., has changed the role of computing in physics research over the last decade. The rise of new techniques, like deep learning and in the near future, quantum computing, means the changes promise to keep coming. Please join us to explore these future changes, and learn about new algorithms and ideas and trends in scientific computing physics. Most of all, join us for the discussions and the sharing of expertise in the field.

Friedmann.10 — Tenth Alexander Friedmann International Seminar on Gravitation and Cosmology and Fourth Symposium on the Casimir Effect
23. Jun 2019 - 29. Jun 2019 • Saint Petersburg, Russische Föderation
Zusammenfassung:
The objective of the meeting is to promote contacts between scientists working in the field of Relativity, Gravitation and Cosmology and related fields. It is well known that the important role in Gravitation and Cosmology is played by the Casimir effect. To underline this, special Symposia devoted to this effect have been included in the Programs of the 7th, 8th, and 9th Friedmann Seminars. The Casimir effect is a multidisciplinary subject. Its applications extend from gravitation and cosmology to the van der Waals forces, materials properties, precise measurements and nanotechnology.

GR22 and Amaldi13 — 22nd International Conference on Relativity and Gavitation & the 13th Eduardo Amaldi Conference on Gravitational Waves
07. Jul 2019 - 12. Jul 2019 • Valencia , Spanien
Zusammenfassung:
GR22 is the latest in the series of triennial international conferences held under the auspices of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation. This conference series constitutes the principal international meetings for scientists working in all areas of relativity and gravitation. The Amaldi conferences are held under the auspices of the Gravitational Wave International Committee. Since 1997, they have been held every two years and are regarded as the most important international conferences for the gravitational-wave detection community. In Valencia, GR22 and Amaldi13 are organized as a joint event.

Integrability in Gauge and String Theories 2019
15. Jul 2019 - 19. Jul 2019 • Stockholm, Schweden
Zusammenfassung:
The conference will cover cutting-edge non-perturbative methods in quantum field theory, as well as mathematical aspects of integrability and its more traditional applications in condensed-matter physics and statistical mechanics. Solvable models play a valuable a role in theoretical physics, as they illustrate general concepts in a simpler setting and provide insights into the qualitative features of more complex phenomena.
