Quantum Gravity on the Computer
05. Mär 2018 - 09. Mär 2018 • Stockholm, Schweden
Zusammenfassung:
One of the big challenges of non-perturbative quantum gravity is the complexity of the dynamics. Discrete approaches can only show a non-trivial dynamics and approximate the continuum when a large number of degrees of freedom is taken into account. Over the last decades numerical tools have stimulated and accelerated developments in many fields of theoretical physics, which is why we want to apply them to non-perturbative quantum gravity. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from quantum gravity already working with numerical methods, those that want to start working with numerical methods and practitioners of numerics in other fields of physics to kick-start the development of numerical techniques and to establish new collaborations and research projects.

Zusammenfassung:
"Quarks-2018" is the jubilee twentieth in the series of seminars on high energy physics taking place biennially since 1980 in various historical and cultural places of Russia. Despite the Seminar's traditional name, the program of "Quarks-2018" is fairly broad, it includes plenary sessions, section meetings and informal discussions on physics beyond the Standard Model, cosmology and astroparticle physics, gravity, strong interactions, and other parts of modern high-energy physics. Besides, this year we expect heated discussions on selected topics, such as axion-like and ultra-light dark matter, astrophysics with gravitational waves, AdS/CFT phenomenology, anomalies in the LHC data, Lorentz and NEC violation, ghosts, etc.

Cosmology and Gravitational Physics with Lambda
17. Aug 2018 • Stockholm, Schweden
Zusammenfassung:
Almost a century ago Einstein’s seminal paper 'Cosmological Considerations in the General Theory of Relativity' (2 August 1917) proposed a game changing addition to his theory of general relativity: Lambda, the cosmological constant. Since then, and in particular from the remarkable experimental data gathered during the last two decades, the cosmological constant has gone from a theoretical sideline to a central feature of research in cosmology and quantum gravity, including the effective Λ of inflation, the observed Λ of the late time acceleration of our universe, and the negative Λ of the gauge/gravity correspondence in string theory. Theoreticians and philosophers have been fascinated and aggravated by 'the Lambda Problem' for a century. The advent of precision cosmology has made this an issue of practical relevance, and this workshop will be productive through critiquing and advancing theoretical approaches within the constraints of observations.

NeutrinoHistory2018 — History of the Neutrino
05. Sep 2018 - 07. Sep 2018 • Paris, Frankreich
Zusammenfassung:
Neutrinos play an exceptional role as well in particle or nuclear physics as in astrophysics. The purpose of the Conference is to cover the main steps of their History since the brilliant and inspired idea of Pauli in December 1930. Though trying to cover all the facets of this fascinating particle, it should be considered as a contribution to the History of the Neutrino, since some chapters are still to be written. The objective is, on each topic, to have an historian/historical approach and follow as close as possible the original papers in correlation with the scientific and historical context.

SIGRAV2018 — 23rd SIGRAV conference
09. Sep 2018 - 15. Sep 2018 • Santa Margherita di Pula (Cagliari), Italien
Zusammenfassung:
The 23rd edition of the conference will be dedicated to black holes. Einstein’s gravitational theory predicts the existence of black holes, objects so compact that light cannot escape their gravitational field. Several types of black hole may exist: mini black holes, stellar black holes, and supermassive black holes with millions of solar masses. Experimental evidence for the existence of stellar and supermassive black holes continues to mount, so what was once considered to be science fiction, has now become reality. In this conference, an overview on all aspects of black-hole physics will be given. In particular, we will discuss observations of black holes in galactic centres and in binary systems, the theory of accretion disks, the description of black holes in general relativity and in alternative theories of gravity, as well as the thermodynamics of black holes and Hawking radiation.

The structure of the Workshop includes five sessions, with plenary and parallel talks on several topics of current interest. The sessions for the NOW 2018 edition are: Session I - Oscillation parameters: present; Session II - Oscillation parameters: future; Session III - Multimessenger astrophysics; Session IV - Neutrino masses, states and interactions; Session V - Particle physics in the Cosmos.

Baldin ISHEPP XXIV — The XXIV International Baldin Seminar on High Energy Physics Problems "Relativistic Nuclear Physics and Quantum Chromodynamics"
17. Sep 2018 - 22. Sep 2018 • Dubna, Russische Föderation
Zusammenfassung:
The Seminar continues the series of traditional meetings that was established by an him. Among conferences that were organized by Alexander Mikhailovich Baldin of special importance is just this series of the International Seminars on High-Energy Physics Problems started in 1969 with support of M.A. Markov (1908-1994). They have been given an inofficial, somewhat witty, name "Baldin autumn".

Integrability in Gauge and String Theories 2019
15. Jul 2019 - 19. Jul 2019 • Stockholm, Schweden
Zusammenfassung:
The conference will cover cutting-edge non-perturbative methods in quantum field theory, as well as mathematical aspects of integrability and its more traditional applications in condensed-matter physics and statistical mechanics. Solvable models play a valuable a role in theoretical physics, as they illustrate general concepts in a simpler setting and provide insights into the qualitative features of more complex phenomena.
