abstract: The conference presentations are expected to focus on the technological advances of bioremediation treatment processes (including phytoremediation) for all types of media (air, soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater and industrial wastewater) contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated and other recalcitrant compounds, as well as on techniques for the microbiological, genetic and ecotoxicological monitoring of such processes. Innovative and low cost solutions through an integrated technological approach are also invited.

abstract: HPBB conferences bring together individuals who have much more in common than simply a need for high pressure (HP) pumps, vessels and gauges. They bring together people who think about pressure influences on biological processes in different ways in the hope of creating a synergy that is greater than the sum of its parts. The participants of this conference will include a range of science and engineering students and professionals with interests in pressure pasteurization, food processing, food chemistry, the thermodynamic influences of pressure on proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and other molecules, and those interested in HP life in deep-sea and deep-subsurface environments.

In addition, technical representatives of select companies involved in developing and marketing instruments and assays for microbiological analysis of food will participate in the program. They will give a brief presentation and demonstrate the latest technology they have to offer. These demonstrations offer an excellent opportunity to discuss applications and suitability of methods for routine microbiological analysis or detection of specific pathogens.
