Résumé
The 13th European Congress on Digital Pathology (ECDP 2016) will be held in Berlin, Germany, from May, 25 – 28, 2016. Digital pathology, originally an offshoot of telepathology is advancing to incorporate modern medicine with systems science, image processing, business process modelling and knowledge management. Methodological changes in microscopic techniques, imaging, molecular pathology, genetics and bioinformatics are drivers of digital pathology. With respect to rate of technical developments during the past years, time is right for an overview of potentials of scanning technology and their applicability in daily practice.

Résumé
At ICC2016, we intend to focus on two subjects. The first is the potential of new developments in cytodiagnosis made possible through the merge of various new technologies derived from diverse fields of medical science, along with the usefulness of cytology as a screening or diagnostic modality. The second is to explore the innovative steps we are compelled to take in the future, through sharing the experiences and research achievements of all the participants. Yokohama is a vibrant port city, only 30 minutes from central Tokyo and Haneda International Airport. Since its opening as an international shipping port in 1859, the city has been Japan’s window on the world and has played a leading role in the country’s modernization. ECI — Nanotechnology in Medicine: From Molecules to Humans
ID
738444
Dates
03 jul 2016 - 08 jul 2016
Lieu
Hernstein, Autriche
Résumé
Nanotechnology is prominent in medicine for various applications that span use in understanding cellular and molecular interactions to the downstream development of technologies for disease characterization, detection and treatment. A few examples include systemically injectable nanoparticles for the targeted delivery of multiple therapeutic and contrast agents; multi-scale hierarchically-complex implants for the regeneration of bone and soft tissues; micro/nano-fluidic chips resembling the authentic architecture and biology of real organs. Despite the high promise of nanotechnology, only a few of these technologies generated have made it to clinical utility. It is likely that the limited translation of nanotechnology-based interventions to date is also due to the lack of mechanistic understanding of cellular and molecular interactions of these technologies owing to the complexity of biological systems in health and diseases.

We envision the ECI Nanotechnology in Medicine conference to provide a platform to aid in the mechanistic understanding of cellular and molecular interactions/responses induced by nanotechnologies and the exploitation of these understandings to generate highly effective nanotechnologies for the early detection, imaging and treatment of human diseases. The conference will bring together biologists, materials scientists, physicists, engineers and clinical scientists.

This conference will represent a forum to discuss new opportunities and challenges in the field of nanotechnology in medicine and to foster the development of synergic collaborations among scientists with diverse backgrounds and expertise.

Résumé
Innovations and reforms in medicine and medical practice are global issues. This is due to advances in medical practice and education, and advent of new technology, which is widely available in society internationally in the past three decades. As a result, patients and society in general are becoming more informed about their own health and medical practice, and they are using their knowledge to question and challenge doctors and healthcare workers about their own health issues. In addition, people are now living longer in various communities as result of advances in medicine and medical technologies. There is now enormous need and expectations from society for doctors and healthcare workers to keep abreast of all these new advances. This has resulted in the changing roles of doctors and healthcare workers in society. They are not only called upon to provide state of the art medical practice fit for the 21st century, but they are also expected to take part in teaching and research in order for them to maintain the challenges they face in medical practice and education in the 21st century. Hence the IAES Conference in Research and Innovations in Medicine and Healthcare will look at these challenges and advances in order to provide excellent medical care fit for the new millennium.

WCPG 2016 — XXIV World Congress of Psychiatric Genetics 2016
ID
766141
Dates
30 oct 2016 - 04 nov 2016
Lieu
Jerusalem, Israël
Résumé
The fundamental aim of psychiatric genetics is to identify genes that confer susceptibility to psychiatric disorders and to elucidate the pathway from the gene to the clinical phenotype. A further allied objective is to identify genes that influence response to the drugs used to treat psychiatric disorders and susceptibility to adverse effects. Success holds the tantalizing promise of unravelling hitherto elusive pathophysiological mechanisms and developing new and more effective treatments. Such treatments are urgently needed in a field that has seen few truly novel, clinically proven drugs for several decades. We invite you to Jerusalem, Israel on October 30th to November 4th, 2016, to learn what has been achieved in psychiatric genetics in the past year and what lies ahead, to meet colleagues who share your interest in this fascinating area, and to bring your own findings to the attention of the field. Psychiatric genetics covers a broad spectrum of experimental approaches. The International Scientific Program Committee of the Jerusalem 2016 meeting will make every effort to insure that the key approaches are represented at the meeting and to achieve a synthesis of knowledge that goes beyond the data presented.

We review the literature on doctor-patient communication. The course on Improving Communication and Consultations Skills is designed to equip healthcare professionals and students with the knowledge and understanding in order to face the challenges in health and medical practice in dynamic World.
