MURPHYS-HSFS-2018: INTERDISCIPLINARY WORKSHOP ON MULTIPLE SCALE SYSTEMS, SYSTEMS WITH HYSTERESIS AND TRENDS IN DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS
28 May 2018 - 01 Jun 2018 • Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, Barcelona, Spain
Abstract:
MURPHYS 2018 (Multi-Rate Processes and Hysteresis) is the 9th workshop that continues a series of biennial meetings focuses on multiple scale phenomena, singular perturbations, phase transitions, hysteresis phenomena and open problems in dynamical systems theory. The previous workshops were held in Cork, Ireland (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008); Pechs, Hungary (2010); Suceava, Romania (2012) and Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics, Berlin (2014). The 8th workshop was held in Barcelona in 2016. HSFS (Hysteresis and Slow-Fast Systems) is the follow-up of a workshop organized in the framework of the Collaborative Research Center 910, Berlin. HSFS focuses on reaction-diffusion equations with hysteresis, systems with different temporal and spatial scales, and applications to self-organizing nonlinear systems. The previous workshops were organized in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany (2011), Berlin, Germany (2014) and Barcelona, Spain (2016).

ICMAT school — 12th International Summer School on Geometry, Mechanics and Control
02 Jul 2018 - 06 Jul 2018 • School of Mathematics, Universidade de Santiago de, Spain
Abstract:
We are happy to announce you the twelvfth edition of the ICMAT International Summer School on Geometry, Mechanics, and Control that will be held at Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Spain, July 2-6, 2018. The school is oriented to young researchers, Ph.D. and postdoctoral students in Mathematics, Physics and Engineering, in particular those interested in symplectic geometry and mathematical physics. This activity consists of three courses (6 hours 30 minutes each) and some short talks and posters by the young participants selected by the scientific committee. The courses will present an up-to-date view of some fundamental issues in the above-mentioned areas and bring to the participants attention some open problems, in particular, problems related to applications. The confirmed courses this year are: Eduardo Garc\'ia R\'io (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Spain). Tom Mestdag (University of Antwerp, Belgium). Catherine Meusburger (FAU Erlangen-N\"urnberg, Germany)

HAMSYS 2018
03 Sep 2018 - 07 Sep 2018 • Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, Barcelona, Spain
Abstract:
The conference HAMSYS2018, continuation of the conference HAMSYS2014 celebrated inside the research program on Central Configurations, Periodic Orbits and Beyond in Celestial Mechanics. In 1991 started the series of the HAMSYS Symposia. These symposia brought together top researches from several countries, working mainly in Hamiltonian Systems and Celestial Mechanics, as well as many graduate students who had the opportunity to learn from and connect with the experts in the field. The VIII-th HAMSYS Symposium, denoted HAMSYS-2018, will take place at CRM (Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). The emphasis of the talks will be on Hamiltonian dynamics and its relationship to several aspects of mechanics, geometric mechanics, and dynamical systems in general.

NDy18 — 2nd International Workshop on Neurodynamics (Ndy'18)
26 Sep 2018 - 29 Sep 2018 • Castro-Urdiales, Spain
Abstract:
Neuroscience is nowadays one of the most collaborative and active scientific research fields. Differential equations are ubiquitous in the modeling of such phenomena and, consequently, nonlinear dynamics and dynamical systems techniques become fundamental sources of new tools to study neuroscience models. The aim of this Second Workshop on Neurodynamics is to present an overview of successful achievements in this rapidly developing collaborative field by putting together different types of applications of nonlinear dynamics (geometrical tools in dynamical systems, numerical methods, computational schemes, ...) to different problems in neuroscience (mononeuronal dynamics, network activity, cognitive problems,...). The final goal is spreading together mathematical methodology and neuroscience challenges and stimulating future cross-collaborations among participants, being Mathematical Neuroscience the generic topic for NDy'18.
