Résumé: This meeting is the continuation of the international conference series on hydrogen effects in materials. Previous conferences in this series were held in 1973, 1975, 1980, 1989, 1994, and 2002. The conference series represents one of the only topical meetings where hydrogen effects on mechanical properties of materials is a primary topic.

Résumé: An introduction to the science of making chemical measurements. The course begins with the fundamentals of gathering information and samples. How to quantify and minimize measurement error is covered next with an introduction to the elementary statistics needed to understand chemical measurements. The principles of how chromatographs achieve chemical separations are explained with an eye towards helping users optimize their analyses. The principles of spectroscopy are presented and are the basis for discussions of how FTIR and UV/Vis spectrometers work and are used. In-class exercises and homework will be used to increase retention of knowledge.

Résumé: This conference has been designed to provide discovery, medicinal and process chemists with a forum to meet with academia to discuss novel organic synthetic methods useful in research and development. The focus is on key transformations such as carbon-carbon bond forming reactions, oxidation and reduction, formation and reactions of heterocyclic molecules, biotransformations and bioprocessing technologies etc. There will also be one day devoted to chiral technology, focusing on new science and the latest developments in chiral chemistry. Topics include: asymmetric chemocatalysis, biocatalysis, new analytical and separation techniques and the development of important chiral pharmaceuticals.

Résumé: The 2010 Winter Conference on Plasma Spectrochemistry is the 16th in a series of biennial meeting featuring developments in plasma spectrochemical analyses by inductively coupled plasma and other optical and electrical sources. Over 300 papers describing applications, fundamentals, and instrumental developments with plasma sources will be presented in lecture and poster sessions by more than 200 authors. Twelve symposia organized and chaired by recognized experts, a three-day instrument exhibit, and 50 pre-conference half-day training courses will be featured. The meeting will convene at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa in Fort Myers, Florida.
