17 Jun 2019 - 28 Jun 2019 • CIRM – Luminy, France
Organizer:
Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM)
Abstract:
We plan to investigate topics revolving around the combinatorial aspects of algebraic geometry. We plan to work on topics that have emerged from our previous collaborations and seek to capitalize on our expertise in complementary aspects of the project. We also plan to inform each other of various topics of mutual interest that we have learned recently. We foresee three research articles in the cutting edge of combinatorial algebraic geometry as an outcome. We also plan to deliver lectures based on the work carried out during the meeting. We also plan to visit our colleagues in the Marseille area following our research in pairs.

26 Aug 2019 - 06 Sep 2019 • CIRM – Luminy, France
Organizer:
Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM)
Abstract:
The aim of the summer school is to gather young researchers arising from a quite wide mathematical area in order to build knowledge in two complementary fundamental theories. The first one is Bruhat-Tits theory which deals with the Euclidean buildings and integral models of reductive algebraic groups defined over a local field, the second one is the theory of Affine Grassmannians which are geometric objects arising from Representation Theory.

Abstract:
During the conference we want to concentrate on BPS/CFT correspondence which related the gauge theory partition functions to the calculations within conformal field theory and vertex algebras. One of the challenges is to understand better BPS/CFT correspondence for the case of compact manifolds.

07 Oct 2019 - 11 Oct 2019 • CIRM – Luminy, France
Organizer:
Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM)
Abstract:
It seems to us that this is the right time to push further the interplay between measurable, topological and Borel dynamics, which is already quite rich and deserves to be popularized. We hope that this conference will help achieve this goal; and we feel that it is important to have young people attend the meeting and have them become acquainted with techniques and ideas from all three areas. For this reason, we plan to leave some time in the program for open discussion between participants, as well as hold problem sessions.

Dérivations et feuilletages algébriques — Derivations and algebraic foliations
07 Oct 2019 - 18 Oct 2019 • CIRM – Luminy, France
Organizer:
Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM)
Abstract:
By work of Darboux, and later Jouanolou, a polynomial vector field on the complex projective plane has only algebraic solutions if and only if it has sufficiently many such solutions, or equivalently, if there are enough algebraic curves left invariant by the vector field. In light of this, to decide whether a polynomial vector field is algebraically integrable we propose to relate numerical invariants not only of curves in the plane, but also of varieties in higher dimensional projective spaces, to the degree of vector fields that are tangent to these varieties. Since the work of Poincare, such ´ bounds have been investigated in many papers with different techniques. We plan to employ methods mainly from commutative algebra, combining fairly recent advances on Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity, in particular the regularity of ideal powers, with more classical tools from singularity theory.

IHP Winter School — Categorifications, Moduli Spaces and Representation Theory
06 Jan 2020 - 10 Jan 2020 • CIRM – Luminy, France
Organizer:
Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM)
Abstract:
Representation theory is the study of the basic symmetries of mathematics and physics. Recently, it has known some spectacular developments, thanks to the introduction of new technics such as categorical representations or parity sheaves. The continued development of the subject has motivated a trimester in representation theory at the IHP that will take place in 2020 from January to March. This program will begin with an introductory conference. It will consist of 6 mini-courses on the main topics (categorifications and quantum groups, quiver varieties, character varieties, geometric representation theory). It is devoted to younger researchers, but also to senior ones in order to promote the discussions between young mathematicians and seniors.

Mathematical Aspects of Physics with Non-Self-Adjoint Operators: 10 Years After
23 Mar 2020 - 27 Mar 2020 • CIRM – Luminy, France
Organizer:
Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM)
Abstract:
Significant developments in the spectral analysis of non-self-adjoint operators since the turn of the millennium include the explicit construction of well-localised almost-eigenvectors, the systematisation of the notion of pseudospectra and the rigorous setting of unbounded solvers for evolution problems. At the same time, a deep understanding of complicated physical phenomena such as cloaking in metamaterials, turbulence and explosive behaviour, has been achieved by means of close examination of the underlying non-self-adjoint operators. These developments involve combining techniques from diverse disciplines and in recent years groups who had been working on similar problems from different perspectives, often using different terminology, have been unaware of each other.
