Particle Physics with Neutrons at the ESS
10 Dec 2018 - 14 Dec 2018 • Stockholm, Sweden
Presently under construction, the European Spallation Source (ESS) will be the world's most powerful neutron source. The ESS can provide a unique program of experimental particle physics at the intensity and precision frontiers. Experiments at the ESS can address central open questions in modern physics such as the mechanism of baryogenesis, the strong CP problem, and the nature of dark matter. Sensitivity to particles and processes beyond the Standard Model at mass scales beyond that available at colliders. This workshop explores the potential of the ESS, focusing on the optimization of signatures and experimental search strategies, the development of the phenomenology needed to interpret ESS results, and the complementarity with the collider program. A number of topics are covered, including the implications of precision measurements neutron decay, searches for neutron electric dipole moment and for the baryon number violating (BNV) processes.

PCCr-2 — 2nd Pan African Conference on Crystallography
28 Jan 2019 - 02 Feb 2019 • Accra, Ghana
This conference follows a successful one held in 2016 in Cameroon and aims at bringing together African crystallographers, mineralogists, structural scientists and biologists to increase awareness of crystallography and improve the educational opportunities for African researchers and students of all levels. The variety of activities will provide opportunities to engage with the scientific community, from expert crystallographers to young researchers and students of all ages, as well as government representatives and policy-makers in Ghana. Other African Scientists from North, Egypt, to the South, South Africa using, practicing and/or developing crystallographic methods (X-ray, neutrons, electron diffraction, NMR and other spectroscopies, solid state calculations) will also meet to build a network of African academics, scientists and engineers which should result in the launch of the African Crystallography Association.

50th IFF Spring School 2019: Scattering! Soft, Functional and Quantum Materials
11 Mar 2019 - 22 Mar 2019 • Jülich, Germany
The IFF Spring School 2019 will provide a solid introduction into scattering methods for the investigation of condensed matter and biomaterials. Advanced methods at novel large scale facilities such as the x-ray free electron laser XFEL or the MW spallation sources will be highlighted. The power of modern scattering techniques will be demonstrated by examples for topical research in various fields - from Quantum Materials through Functional Materials to Soft Matter and Life Sciences. Finally, complementary techniques such as electron spectroscopy, modern electron microscopy etc. will be presented.

The participants of the Spring School are expected to have a basic knowledge of quantum mechanics and physics or chemistry of condensed matter. The School comprises around 50 hours of lectures plus discussions, and will be held in English.

UCANS-8 — 8th International Meeting of Union for Compact Accelerator-Driven Neutron Sources
08 Jul 2019 - 10 Jul 2019 • Paris , France
Advances in science and technology in the field of neutron science have been dominated by a fruitful combination of major international facilities supported by networks of smaller regional facilities. Recent advances in accelerator technology and neutronic design have made it possible to construct small-scale accelerator-driven neutron facilities that would be able to play a significant role in neutron technology and science.

J-PARC2019 — 3rd J-PARC Symposium
23 Sep 2019 - 26 Sep 2019 • Tsukuba, Japan
The J-PARC facility started its operation of neutron beam facility in May 2008, muon facility in September 2008, hadron facility in February, 2009, and neutrino facility in April, 2009. We would like to take this opportunity to collectively discuss the results from a decade of J-PARC operation together with the achievements from relevant facilities all over the world for the future direction of the science. We also would like to celebrate the 10-th anniversary of J-PARC operation on this occasion.
