Kurs Transoesophageale Echokardiographie
24 nov 2017 - 25 nov 2017 • Bad Nauheim, Allemagne

Over the last 10 years, the field of ventricular arrhythmias has rapidly evolved, experiencing profound changes in indications, techniques and technologies. Our annual Euro VT/VF meeting aims to give an overview of this exciting field, providing access to the best scientific knowledge. As for the last 2 years, we will continue to involve younger colleagues that had provided significant contributions in the field. The young EP arena will be reconducted and the best case presentation will be awarded. We trust that the active participation and satisfaction of the program content experienced so far will be met again. Our ambition remains to provide an up-to-date of the most innovative contributions in the areas of VT mechanism, CRT/ICD and ablation. Several debates involving experts and an active audience will tackle unsolved issues and challenging situations.

Grundkurs Echokardiographie Leipzig

14 jan 2018 - 18 jan 2018 • Keystone, États-Unis
Résumé:
Heart failure is a major human disease that afflicts millions of people worldwide. Intensive research in the past decade has yielded many exciting new mechanistic insights into the pathogenesis of heart failure, but progress toward successful therapies to prevent, halt and reverse heart failure has been painfully slow. The overall goal of this Keystone Symposia conference is to focus on heart failure and highlight the scientific advances in basic discovery and early-phase therapeutic development in this fast-moving field. The symposium will provide the field with an opportunity for robust discussion about the major issues crossing the translational divide from basic discovery to therapies.

Keystone Symposia: Atherosclerosis: Lessons Learned and Concepts Challenged
04 fév 2018 - 08 fév 2018 • Taos, New Mexico, États-Unis
Résumé:
Atherosclerosis is a chronic, systemic disease process whereby fatty deposits, inflammation and fibrosis accumulate in arterial vessel walls. Organs systems, including heart, brain, kidneys, as well as extremities, can be damaged, leading to atherosclerosis-driven clinical outcomes. According to the American Heart Association, 15.5 million Americans have coronary heart disease, of which 7.6 million experienced myocardial infarction. These statistics are reflective of global incidence. Treatment of atherosclerosis often begins with robust cholesterol-lowering treatments, yet many patients continue to experience cardiovascular events. Recent attempts to provide cardiovascular protection to such patients have included anti-inflammatory and HDL-raising therapeutic approaches that have yielded little benefit. Building knowledge of atherosclerosis disease etiology, defining unique attributes of patient differences as simple as sex or genetic inheritance, and using technology to identify patients with early disease is foundational for the scientific community to develop urgently needed therapeutics. The current concept of acute coronary syndrome (“the vulnerable plaque”) and widely applied animal models are debated because clinical presentation, underlying pathology and pathogenetic mechanisms are subject to change due to improved medical treatment. The goals of this meeting are to: 1) Challenge current dogma of atherosclerosis etiology and explore intra-organ cross-talk that may underlie disease evolution; 2) Consider emerging risk factors and their origins as intervention targets; and 3) Explore cutting-edge technologies to discover new therapeutic targets and approaches for drug development. By bringing together scientists from preclinical to clinical settings and from industry to academic institutions, this conference will nurture discussions to translate breakthrough discoveries into therapeutics.

Résumé:
We are pleased to welcome you back in Essen. We are again planning a combination of live cases, presentations and discussions. Live cases will go throughout the whole field of intracranial endovascular therapy including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, dural fistulae, intracranial stenosis and of course treatment of acute stroke by thrombectomy, according to the acute requests that we may receive within these 3 days. We will therefore keep the possibility to disrupt live cases or presentations at any time if an acute stroke is to be treated. We wish to share our ideas on the endovascular management in demanding situations where new technical developments have been replacing the conventional treatment modalities.
