The drive for new or enhanced properties, however, goes beyond known bulk materials and includes interfaces and superlattice phases with built-in useful phenomena. The International Workshop on Oxide Electronics series has become an important venue to discuss recent advances and emerging trends in this developing field. The aim of the workshop is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for researchers—theorists as well as experimentalists—on the design, synthesis, processing, characterization, and applications of (epitaxial) functional oxide materials. Results of fundamental scientific importance as well as studies revealing the technological potential of functional oxide thin films to create devices with enhanced performance will be showcased at the 21st International Workshop on Oxide Electronics in 2014.

 Dates 05 Oct 2014 → 10 Oct 2014
[ID=542451] Go to top of page
 LocationHernstein, Austria
Abstract This Conference follows from the success of the first four International Conferences on Electrophoretic Deposition: Fundamentals and Applications organised by ECI. Electrophoretic deposition exploits an electric surface on particles in suspension, which migrate in the presence of an appropriate electric field, enabling the consolidation of particles into films onto any shaped substrate or forming bulk ceramic components. For its successful application, a basic understanding of the colloidal stability, the depostion, kinetics, and the constrained drying and sintering of the deosit is necessary. The conference will cover how early applications of EPD have involved the shaping of ceramic articles and coating technology. New areas of applications of EPD are the low cost fabrication of composite materials, including fiber reinforced ceramics, nanocomposites, composite laminates and functional gradient material. The goal is to bring together experts working in the area of electrophoretic deposition with the focus mainly on its application as a processing technique for the fabrication of both traditional and new materials and composites.
