abstract: The prevalence of multicore technologies has brought ubiquitous parallelism and a huge theoretical potential for compute-intensive tasks. In theory, advancements in technology bring us closer to the solution of the Grand Challenges in modern computing. In practice however, it is hard to achieve maximal throughput in the results and to exploit all available capabilities. Due to the inevitable paradigm shift towards multicore technologies, parallelism is now affecting all kinds of software development processes – from large-scale numerical simulation to desktop commodity applications. And parallelism is no longer restricted to well-balanced systems built of homogeneous nodes. In recent systems parallelism spreads over many systems levels including nodes, processors, cores, threads, registers, SIMD and vector units. Moreover, heterogeneity of the systems is growing on the node as well as on the chip level. Most applications and algorithms are not yet ready to utilize available capabilities and a tremendous effort is required to close the gap. Different technologies and processing models, non-adjusted interfaces, and incomplete tool chains complicate holistic programming approaches and impede programmer’s productivity. On the other hand, resource contention, data conflicts and hardware bottlenecks keep performance away from theoretical peak.

At the current state of the art in technologies and methodologies an interdisciplinary approach is required to tackle the obstacles in multicore computing. Only a comprehensive approach with contributions from computer science, applied mathematics, high performance computing, and engineering disciplines can face the multicore challenge. Compute- and memory-intensive applications can only benefit from the full hardware potential if all features on all system levels are taken into account in a holistic approach.

This conference aims to combine new aspects of multicore microprocessor technologies, parallel applications, numerical simulation, software development and tools. The primary goal is to bring together young researchers working in related fields. Contributions are welcome from all participating disciplines.

abstract: The aim of the ITNG 2010 Software Testing track is to bring together researchers and practitioners in an effort to highlight the state-of-the-art and to present and discuss ideas and experiences to explore new directions for improving software testing theories, technologies, processes, models, tools, and fundamental paradigms. We strongly encourage submissions of both a theoretical and practical nature, from both academia and industry.

abstract: The purpose of this seminar series is to discuss recent innovations in the area of programming languages and development environments, and to promote collaboration among researchers and practitioners in this area.

abstract: We have a long tradition of high quality sessions covering many aspects of software development, from programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, C#, Ruby, Groovy, Python, Erlang, Haskell, etc.), and technologies (libraries, frameworks, databases, etc.) to subjects about the wider development environment such as testing, development process, design, analysis, patterns, project management, and softer aspects such as team building, communication and leadership.

In particular, this year we are going to have a special track on software testing--we are interested in experience reports, techniques, lessons learned, etc.

abstract: Die SEE hat sich als bedeutende, deutschsprachige Konferenz zu Vorgehensmodellen, Methoden und Werkzeugen etabliert. Am 3. und 4. Mai 2010 in Köln berichten in 42 Vorträgen Experten aus allen Anwendungsgebieten über neue Trends, spannende Erfahrungen und Wissenswertes aus dem Systems Engineering. Ganz nach dem Motto "Erfolgreich mit Standards" handeln mehrere Vorträge von der Einführung, der Anwendung und der Umsetzung von organisationsweiten Vorgaben.

abstract: The iqnite conference (formerly known as Software & Systems Quality Conference) is one of the most important events for the Testing and Quality community.

iqnite 2010 in Geneva offers you a combination of inter branch presentations, keynotes and workshops as well as an exhibition throughout a whole day. With several tracks in parallel you are able to organise your day based on your individual needs and still to take your time for intensive networking.

With the intention of keeping the quality of presentations and workshops on an equally high level, every year eligible members of the programme committee evaluate the most interesting and important presentations out of all submissions.

Call for Papers has already started. This year’s evaluation phase will end middle of December. The final programme will be online in January 2009.

abstract: For decades software systems suffer from poor reliability. Billions of dollars and even lives are lost annually due to software errors. According to the report by NIST in 2002, poor software quality costs 60 billion dollars yearly to US economy, and 22 billion dollars can be regained by improving infrastructure for detecting errors using testing closer to the development phase. With the quick increase of software complexity and scale, test automation is becoming an emerging and effective solution in software quality assurance to meet tight project schedules with quality. Today, there are many published research papers addressing software test automation issues and solutions, numerous test automation tools are available for quality assurance engineer. However, there are many open issues, obstacles, and challenges in software test automation, practice, and standardization. Moreover, there is an emerging need in software test automation standardization to reduce test automation efforts by increasing standardization of test process, test design, and test tools. This workshop is set up to meet these emerging needs.

abstract: There has been an important trend that systems in industries have become more and more large-scale and computer- and network-enabled. The behaviors of industrial systems became increasingly complex. Systems Engineering viewpoints and methodologies are desperately needed to tackle issues, for example, system assessment, testing and metrics of performance and long term effects, the intricate relationships between systems and their environments including emergent interactions among system components, and the couplings between systems software and hardware infrastructures. In order to address these challenges, knowledge how to master these complexities is required. Especially, distributed knowledge, its embodiment within the environment, for example by multi-agent systems, and the mastering of the dynamic interactions of these distributed knowledge items will be in the main focus of IISE 2010. Accordingly, system developments and evaluations have to include new criteria, for example, robustness, evolvability, dependability, engineerability, etc.

The IISE 2010 conference aims at providing an international forum for the researchers and practitioners in the related subject areas to exchange research results, experiences, as well as the visions of the future and the scientific and practical problems that challenge the current problems of industrial informatics and systems engineering.
