Zusammenfassung: Living organisms provide inspiration for innovations in many different fields and for entirely different reasons. In this regard, the field of biomimetics and bioinspiration is based on taking ideas and concepts from nature and implementing them in different fields of science, ranging from engineering to computing, aiming at the development of novel devices with desirable functionalities. Biomimetic engineering is -- like any mimicked organism or natural functionality -- highly multidisciplinary in nature, and embraces aspects related to physics, materials science, nanotechnology, biology, chemistry, mechanical properties, computing and control, design integration, optimization, multifunctionality and cost effectiveness. Although it cannot be considered a developed area of research, this field is receiving increased attention due to broad technological advances which allow us to approach the sophistication of biological systems.

This conference welcomes contributions from industry, academia and government research organizations. Topics of interest cover any relevant aspects of biomimetics and bioinspiration, from production and characterization to practical applications.

Zusammenfassung: IUPAC 2009, the 42nd IUPAC Congress, is one of the most important international chemistry events. On behalf of IUPAC, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is delighted to host this edition of the series, the history of which goes back to 1894. IUPAC was set up to advance the worldwide aspects of the chemical sciences and to contribute to the application of chemistry in the service of mankind, and the 2009 congress follows its lead with a programme that addresses the important challenges facing both the chemical sciences and society today such as climate change, energy, sustainability and healthcare. This will be the biggest UK chemistry conference for several years. As well as a programme including more than 50 symposia, we are planning a series of social and satellite events to enhance networking and discussion opportunities. Combined with a large poster session and scientific exhibition showcasing the latest developments from around the world, it will be a conference to remember. Zusammenfassung: In Kooperation mit der B·A·D Gesundheitsvorsorge und Sicherheitstechnik GmbH Im Seminar wird auf die Änderungen der DIN-Normen bzw. dem gesetzlichen Regelwerk eingegangen. Aufgrund der geänderten Anforderungen an die Prüfungen werdenentsprechend geeignete Messgeräte vorgestellt, bzw. es wird vermittelt, welche Änderungen bei den bereits vorhandenen Messgeräten vorgenommen werden sollen. Die Veranstaltung dient zur Aktualisierung und Auffrischung des Kenntnisstandes elektrotechnisch unterwiesener Personen, deren Ausbildung länger zurückliegt.

Zusammenfassung: The Singapore International Chemical Conference is a biennial conference dedicated to promoting advances in chemistry. The SICC-6 is the sixth in this series of conferences and aims to reflect on the significant scientific developments in Chemical Synthesis: Creativity and Applications.

Chemical synthesis, from nano-, macro- to mega-scales, has provided the many molecules and compounds driving key research efforts in the fields of biomedical sciences, electronics and materials development that are among the major economic pillars worldwide. To a smaller but meaningful extent, creative design of theoretically interesting molecules continues to be of special interest and challenge. The SICC-6 will provide a great opportunity for participants to interact and exchange ideas on creativity in chemical synthesis and advancing applications of the products. The conference will also be a good platform to foster potential future collaborations among the participants.
