Zusammenfassung: We are very pleased to invite you to attend the 5th ISMOM and 2nd Interconference Commission 2.5 IUSS - 2008 organized by the Working Group MO “Interactions of Soil Minerals with Organic Components and Microorganisms” of the International Union of Soil Sciences, now Commission 2.5:Soil Physical/Chemical/Biological Interfacial Interactions. The meeting is to be held in Pucón, Southern Chile , on November 24-29, 2008, in spring time.

Zusammenfassung: Diese Veranstaltung ist als Serviceleistung für die betroffenen Laboratorien und Auditoren gedacht, die wirklich wichtigen Aspekte der verbindlichen Regelungen in der Umweltanalytik im Zusammenhang mit der Akkreditierung und Notifizíerung herauszufinden. Die Veranstaltung bietet aber auch die Gelegenheit, Wert und Inhalt dieser Regelungen zu diskutieren. Wichtiges Ziel der Veranstaltung ist die Verbesserung der Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Labor, dem Kunden und dem Akkreditierer/Notifizierer. Schwerpunkte sind: - Anforderungen von Normen, Richtlinien und Merkblätter und deren praktikable Umsetzung in Kompetenzfeststellungsverfahren - Vorgaben durch gesetzliche Vorschriften (z.B. AbwV, EKVO) - Vorgaben durch die Fachmodule (FMW, FMW, FMB) - Praktikable Umsetzung der Vorgaben - Praxis der Qualitätssicherung (z.B. Zusammenfassung: The Partners in Environmental Technology event promotes the many different partnerships that play a key role in the success of federal technology development: the partnership between DoD, the Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other federal agencies; the partnership between federal agencies, private industry, and academia; and most importantly, the partnership between technology developers, end users of technology, and environmental regulators/policy developers.

Zusammenfassung: Combustion and incineration technologies are an efficient alternative to cope with environmental concerns. On the other hand, these technologies are becoming a source of other environmental issues. The stringent requirements of mandatory emission controls and deep concerns from civil sectors have necessitated the development of advanced technologies and facility modifications.

Previous conferences of this kind were successfully held in Seoul, Korea in 2000 (1st I-CIPEC), in Jeju, Korea in 2002 (2nd I-CIPEC), in Hangzhou, China in 2004 (3rd I-CIPEC) and in Kyoto, Japan in 2006 (4th I-CIPEC) .

At GEOFLUIDS VI in Adelaide we will bring together the representatives of Geofluid research and we hope that we can continue the unique strength of the GEOFLUIDS venue: to unite the theory and application of fluids in geosciences.

Zusammenfassung: The chemistry of the Earth records detailed information about the way in which the Earth formed, reacted and changed to form the planet that we live on today. The secrets of planetary formation and clues about the evolution of life have always held a basic societal fascination. Topically, understanding the Earth's chemistry is essential in uncovering how the mineral and biological world interact, discovering new mineral and energy resources, finding safe drinking water supplies, understanding how and why climate is changing, and developing technologies to mitigate some of the damage that man has done to the planet.

'Our Volatile Planet' represents a topic central to all of these themes. Volatile elements and compounds, such as water, are those which have a tendency to exist in a vapour or gas phase, to boil or dissipate. Water is essential for life, controls planetary scale processes of subduction, earthquakes and even volcanic outpourings. Water forms beautiful mineral formations, transports the suns energy from the equator to the Polar Regions and, when polluted, kills. Our society is also volatile. Wars are fought over mineral resources, cities devastated by Earthquakes, and drought caused by changes in climate. Providing knowledge of Earths complex systems is essential if we are to balance society's needs with the available resources, changing climate and many and diverse, but fragile, ecosystems.

Goldschmidt 2009 brings together over 2000 of the worlds international experts in the chemistry of the Earth to present and debate breaking new work across these topics. It will be held in the Congress Center in Davos. This was the venue for the very successful 2002 meeting, and the Congress Center has now been enlarged in part to be able to accommodate conferences as large as ours.
