Résumé: The symposium will bring senior disciplinary experts from Spain, Australia, South Africa, Mexico and California, all drought-prone areas, to sit together and share scientific and policy aspects related to drought and its mitigation.

The main objective is to compare drought impacts and mitigation under various physical, economic, and institutional situations, and to allow 'out of the box' approaches to be considered and adopted by the various countries.

Résumé: The aim of the conference is to challenge and inspire the water and environmental community by sharing knowledge and best practice, which is at the heart of meeting key global challenges.

In April 2010 CIWEM will hold a two-day Annual Conference that will address multidisciplinary issues across all areas of the global water and environment sector. There will be a mix of keynote speakers, offered papers, exhibitions and networking opportunities that will make this the key event for water and environment professionals.

This conference is organised on an academic model, where there is a call for presentations and speakers will be selected on that basis by the conference programme committee. All the speakers will pay the conference fee and this will be broadly in line with current CIWEM one day events.

Résumé: The purpose of the conference is to provide a solutions-based forum and to exchange information regarding research activities and plans for studying the relationship between climate and environment for improving the quantity and quality of water, and engineering, and current policies from state and federal agencies. Attendees will include scientists and engineers, managers, legislators, and policy makers responsible for issues dealing with water. It is the intent of this conference to bring forward the concerns and impending problems (and offer solutions) that are developing with regards to the availability and quality of water, and the consequences to aquatic ecosystems and human environment, not only at the Balkan scale, but wider.

Résumé: This conference provides a forum for researchers, academics and practitioners actively involved in improving our understanding of flood events including risk management and mitigation, as well as emergency response and many other related issues.

Résumé: The event will bring together researchers and experts from research and educational institutions, companies, government agencies and consulting to exchange ideas and to define the research priorities in fields of Geosciences. Special workshops will be conducted as a parallel to the conference scientific sessions. Résumé: Topics include fundamentals of environmental fluid mechanics, environmental hydraulics of inland waters, environmental hydraulics of coastal waters, urban hydrosystems, ecological aspects, and environmental hydraulics and global climate change.

Résumé: The main theme of Water2010, the joint ISSH-2010 and ICWRER-2010 Symposium is ‘Hydrology, Hydraulics and Water Resources in an Uncertain Environment’. In the current changing environment, water resources modeling and management are becoming more and more important and challenging. How to deal with the changing frequency and magnitude of droughts and floods or how to ensure access to drinking-quality water are only examples of difficulties that several countries are facing. In this context, the first decade of the century is an angular point for the decades to come in which hydrologists and water resources engineers will play an increasingly important role.

Résumé: Every six years the British Hydrological Society hosts an International Symposium. The International Symposium aims to bring together hydrologists from the UK and overseas during a week long conference to discuss relevant issues and challenges facing hydrology and related disciplines. All papers accepted for presentation will be included in the Conference proceedings. Selected papers will form a Special Issue of the British Hydrological Society’s official journal – Hydrology Research.

These subjects are of particular relevance as population increases and a changing climate bring new pressures on hydrological systems around the world.
