Résumé: Biennial International Exhibition of Water and Waste Water

Résumé: We take great pleasure in announcing the 33rd International Association of Hydraulic Engineering & Research (IAHR) Biennial Congress, August 10-14, 2009. Themed “Water Engineering for a Sustainable Environment,” the Congress focuses on the central roles of hydraulic engineering and hydroinformatics in water engineering for a sustainable environment, and how these roles link to broader aspects of environment sustainability in watershed and coastal settings.

By 2009, it will have been 12 years since an IAHR Biennial Congress was held in North America. The last North American venue was San Francisco, in 1997. That Congress was well received and attracted approximately 1,000 registrants. The North American hydraulics community is extensively represented in IAHR’s membership (some 15-20% of the total) and looks forward to once again welcoming international colleagues to an IAHR Congress at an attractive North American location.

Résumé: The International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) are happy to announce the organization of 8th Scientific Assembly and 37th Congress. The world scientific and professional community, policy makers, executives and the NGOs are all welcome to participate in the event.

Water resources are under an unprecedented stress globally inspite of the fact that many conservation and management strategies are in place in many nations. Inspite of realising the limitations of the concept of water resources as 'renewable resource', they are still being exploited far beyond their replenishable levels in the ever increasing demands in domestic, industrial and agricultural sectors driving their fate to extinction. In many parts of the world, water resources have already depleted and contaminated almost to a point of no-return.

Résumé: The scientific and engineering content deals with topics related to modelling the urban drainage system and the interactions with other urban water systems and urban environment. The conference is designed to bring together specialists – researchers, and practitioners – to exchange experiences, to demonstrate present potentials and to identify needs of urban drainage modelling. Both, theoretical and practical developments and applications will be presented.

Résumé: The modeling and simulation of water resources phenomena is changing rapidly. Recent developments in information technology, remote sensing, and data collection technologies have changed the paradigms under which hydrological, water quality, and hydrodynamic modeling is done. Rapid changes in natural and human environments, mathematical and computational capabilities, and global phenomena (such as climate change) require special approaches from conceptual models and numerical techniques, up to results visualization and dissemination.

Résumé: Under the conference theme “Survey of the Hydraulic Resources and Desertification by the Geographic Information Systems, Remote Detection and Numeric Designing,” topics include identification of areas of natural and artificial recharge of groundwater.
