Specific problems associated with directional/horizontal drilling such as torque, drag, hole cleaning, logging and drill string component design are included. The candidates will receive instruction on planning and evaluating both directional and horizontal wells. We will discuss and clarify issues related to well completion and completion fluids. The course will cover in details all work-over operations with procedures and problem solving. The basic applications and techniques for multi-lateral wells will be covered in this course. Additionally, the learners will become familiar with the tools and techniques used in both horizontal and directional drilling such as survey instruments, bottom-hole assemblies, motors, steerable motors and steerable rotary systems.
