DRS2020 — Design Research Society Biennial Conference 2020
11 Aug 2020 - 14 Aug 2020 • Brisbane, Australia
Organizer:
Griffith University, Australia
Abstract:
The Design Research Society 2020 International Conference will be hosted by Griffith University at Brisbane, Australia. As with the previous DRS biennial conferences, DRS2020 will be one of the major forums to discuss and present cutting-edge design research. DRS2020 invites high-quality research papers, together with conversation and workshop proposals. DRS2020 explores the conference theme of SYNERGY – the coming together of people and disciplines in design research to create positive impact. While we champion the uniqueness of disciplinary knowledge and creativity, we are also optimistic about how the coming together of different mindsets, backgrounds and perspectives can realise transformative visions of the future. Synergy in design research provides exciting possibilities for answering multi-faceted problems, supporting stakeholder initiatives and participation, and transforming existing situations into desirable ones. As the influence of design research grows within academia and society globally, through Synergy we question what new opportunities there are for us to work together, within and beyond our field. How do disciplines work together in design research? What new methods and tools of design do we need to realise synergistic working? But also, when might Synergy not be desirable? How do we balance the tension between design research specialisms and the new experience design, interdisciplinary design and transdisciplinary design research spaces we find ourselves working in?

International Journal of Energy and Environmental Engineering (IJEEE)
Abstract:
The International Conference on Electrical Energy, Transportation, and Information and Communication Technologies (EETICOMM) is organised by the International Journal of Energy and Environmental Engineering (Springer) in partnership with the Università degli Studi di Brescia and has the technical support of Theorem Conferences (United Kingdom). The International Journal of Energy and Environmental Engineering (IJEEE) is a multi-disciplinary, single-blind peer-reviewed open access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen, covering all areas of energy and environment related fields that apply to the science and engineering communities.

This conference aims to promote communication and dialogue among researchers, scientists, academics, and engineers working in the areas of energy and environmental engineering, focusing on research concerning Electrical Energy, Transportation, and Information and Communication Technologies.

The abstracts and the full papers will be published in the E-book Proceedings of the conference, and the delegates will have the opportunity to apply for the publication of their papers in a special issue of the International Journal of Energy and Environmental Engineering, Springer, published since 2012.

EETICOMM will be held from the 30th of September to the 2nd of October 2020 at Brescia University (Italy).

Founded over 3,200 years ago, Brescia has been an important regional centre since pre-Roman times. Its old town contains the best-preserved Roman public buildings in northern Italy and numerous monuments, among these the medieval castle, the Old and New cathedral, the Renaissance Piazza della Loggia and the rationalist Piazza della Vittoria.

The monumental archaeological area of the Roman forum and the monastic complex of San Salvatore-Santa Giulia have become a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of a group of seven inscribed as Longobards in Italy, Places of Power.

Nicknamed Leonessa d’Italia (“The Lioness of Italy”), Brescia is the home of Italian caviar, and is known for being the original production area of the Franciacorta sparkling wine as well as the prestigious Mille Miglia classic car race that starts and ends in the city.

Brescia and its territory was the “European Region of Gastronomy” in 2017.

The organising committee is looking forward to welcoming you in beautiful Brescia soon.

Entwickler Akademie
Abstract:

9th ASCAAD International [Virtual] Conference
02 Mar 2021 - 04 Mar 2021 • Cairo [Virtual], Egypt
Organizer:
ASCAAD in collaboration with the Department of Architecture at the American University in Cairo
Abstract:
The ASCAAD 2021 theme is dedicated to the ARCHITECTURE IN THE AGE OF DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES – Transformation and Challenges. The theme focuses on addressing the paradigm shift due to computational design gradually renouncing the typical morphogenetic-centered associations in the architectural discourse. Participants are encouraged to identify visions and challenging aspects such as: from the tangible to the intangible, from the physical to the phenomenological, from mass production to mass customization, from the artifact-centered to the human-centered, and from formalistic top-down approaches to informed bottom-up approaches. This imminent shift of focus is increasingly stirring a debate in the architectural community and is provoking a much needed critical questioning of the role of computation in architecture as a sole embodiment and enactment of technical dimensions, into one that rather deliberately pursues and embraces the humanities as an ultimate aspiration.
