HWNQoE-2017 — 2017 International Workshop on Heterogeneous Wireless Networks and Quality-of-Experience
21 Jun 2017 - 23 Jun 2017 • Exeter, United Kingdom
Abstract:
With the rapid innovation in sophisticated wireless communication technologies including 4G LTE-Advanced, fixed and mobile broadband WiMAX, 3G UMTS/CDMA and high-speed Wi-Fi, the past years have witnessed a dramatic growth of mobile multimedia applications, for example, Live Mobile Video, 3D Video Stream, Digital and Mobile TV, VoIP, etc. These content-rich multimedia applications consume a huge amount of network resources and create new challenging issues for heterogeneous wireless networks to satisfy the ever-increasing Quality-of-Experience (QoE) requirements. Furthermore, the traditional criteria for the measurements and provisioning of network performances are generally based on Quality of Service (QoS), which is defined in terms of network delivery capacity and resource availability such as bandwidth, jitter, throughput, transmission delay and availability. While it is widely accepted that QoS is inadequate for successfully and comprehensively evaluating the user-perceived quality of multimedia services over heterogeneous networks, as QoE is determined not only by QoS but also by the quality of multimedia content to be delivered.

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together industry and academic researchers to provide an up-to-date picture of the state-of-the-art research in the field of heterogeneous wireless communications and QoE provisioning. It is also intended to provide a forum to exchange varying beliefs and understandings of how to seamless integrate advanced wireless networking and adaptive multimedia processing for enabling evolution of the current wireless system toward future networks.

AdHocNets 2017 — 9th EAI International Conference on Ad Hoc Networks
28 Sep 2017 - 29 Sep 2017 • Niagara Falls, Canada
Abstract:
The annual International Conference on Ad Hoc Networks (AdHocNets) focuses on ad hoc networking technologies and their applications. An ad hoc network is a wireless system, in which nodes (mobile or static) are connected using wireless links and cooperate to self-organize into a network without the requirement for any infrastructures such as access point or base stations. In recent years, ad hoc networks have been attracting increased attention from the research and engineering communities. The distributed and multi-hop nature of ad hoc networking, as well as the highly dynamic topology of ad hoc networks due to node mobility, has introduced many formidable challenges such as scalability, quality of service, reliability and security, and energy constrained operations for the networks. Ad hoc networking covers a variety of network paradigms including mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), sensor networks, vehicular networks, underwater networks, airborne networks, underground networks, personal area networks, device-to-device (D2D) communications in 5G cellular networks, and home networks etc. It promises a wide range of applications in civilian, commercial, and military areas. The aim of the annual AdHocNets conference is to provide a forum that brings together researchers and engineers from academia, government laboratories, as well as industry to meet, network, exchange ideas and present their recent research work, and discuss future directions on all aspects of ad hoc networks. This year’s AdHocNets conference will be held in Niagara Falls, on September 28 - 29, 2017. The conference will consist of keynote speeches, technical sessions, and associated workshops. A workshop will be a half or one day event that focuses more on recent development and emerging applications in the area of ad hoc networking.

TRONSHOW — 2017 TRON Symposium
13 Dec 2017 - 14 Dec 2017 • Tokyo, Japan
Abstract:
TRON Project is a federation of projects which aim at realizing the vision of "Computing Everywhere,", i.e the IoT(Internet of Things), or ubiquitous computing environment. The symposium will introduce the basic technologies that realize the Open IoT (IoT Aggregator and IoT Engine, for example), the latest development environments, and new applications that use the IoT, for example, including the ones to solve the basic issues cities today face such as disaster relief, sightseeing, transportation and environmental problems. The latest research of ubiquitous computing, the IoT and embedded systems are presented. For embedded computing, open standard development environment where every object has a computer embedded in it and is connected to a network will be introduced including the RTOS (ITRON, T-Kernel), middleware, development environments, and application examples such as mobile information devices and network-connected consumer appliances.

SENSORNETS 2018 — 6th International Conference on Sensor Networks
22 Jan 2018 - 24 Jan 2018 • Funchal, Madeira, Portugal
Abstract:
Current developments show that in the near future the wide availability of low cost, short range radio technology, along with advances in wireless networking, will enable wireless adhoc sensor networks to become commonly deployed. In these networks, each node may be equipped with a variety of sensors, such as acoustic, seismic, infrared, motion, biomedical and chemical sensors with higher level of information inference associated with identification, embedded signal processing and networking of the data. This conference intends to be the meeting point of researchers and practitioners to share experiences and ideas on innovative developments in any aspect of sensor networks, including Hardware of Sensor Networks, Wireless Communication Protocols, Sensor Networks Software and Architectures, Wireless Information Networks, Data Manipulation, Signal Processing, Localization and Object Tracking through Sensor Networks, Obstacles, Applications and Uses.
