In-factory Logistics Using Mobile Robots
23 Oct 2017 - 27 Oct 2017 • Aachen, Germany
Abstract:
Autonomous mobile robots are expected to play an important role in modern factories. Mobile robots are complex cyber-physical systems that combine sensors, actuators as well as computing devices that enable them to reason about and interact with the environment. The ability of these systems to reason about their environment and to select a corresponding behavior poses new challenges for evaluation and certification. On the one hand, the autonomy of these systems expands their operational envelopment and makes them suitable for a broad area of applications. This course will give an introduction to the architecture of mobile transportation robots and will detail the main building blocks of these systems.

Participants will understand the potentials of a flexible material flow and how to build adaptive production systems using mobile robots. They will learn methods for planning transport orders, coordinating a fleet of mobile robots and planning collision-free and efficient paths. Finally, they will implement and test the methods using a fleet of mobile robots.

Abstract:

parametric study of energy extraction performances by flapping airfoils
10 Dec 2017 - 11 Dec 2017 • BISKRA, Algeria
Abstract:
In the present work, we are interested in the evaluation of the performances of energy extraction by flapping airfoil. At a Reynolds number of 10000, the Anasys-Fluent is used to solve the unsteady, two-dimensional, and incompressible flow equations around a sinusoidal beat motion profile NACA0012. The influence of the kinematic parameters of the airfoil motion, maximum pitch amplitude θ0, maximum non-dimensional amplitude of heave h0 and the angle of phase shift φ on the performances of the energy extraction in terms of mean power coefficient Copmean and the efficiency of energy extraction η. In this study, the number of Strouhal is varied in the range [0.05, 0.45]. A maximum power coefficient of 0.9 with an extraction efficiency of 43% is obtained with a maximum pitch amplitude of 80 ° and a Strouhal number of 0.35. The best extraction performances are obtained with high heave amplitudes (h0 = 1) and angles of phase shift greater than 80 °.
