Zusammenfassung: The topical meeting on Digital Holography and Three-Dimensional Imaging provides a forum for disseminating the science and technology of holographic interferometry for deformation or contour measurement, 3-D optical remote sensing, 3-D holographic microscopy, 3-D optical image processing, 3-D display, and digital holography for life science applications.

Zusammenfassung: Current developments in the technology of imaging have led to an explosive growth in the interdisciplinary field of imaging science. With the advent of new devices capable of seeing objects and structures not previously imagined, the reach of science and medicine has been extended in a multitude of different ways. The impact of this technology has been to generate new challenges associated with the problems of formation, acquisition, compression, transmission, and analysis of images. By their very nature, these challenges cut across the disciplines of physics, engineering, mathematics, biology, medicine, and statistics. While the primary purpose of this conference is to focus on mathematical issues, the biomedical aspects of imaging will also play an important role.

Zusammenfassung: Optical imaging promises to revolutionize neuroscience by offering minimally-invasive, direct recording of neural activity at single cell resolution in the intact working brain. Optical imaging of neural activity, however, has yet to deliver the ultimate prize of recording the activity of many individual neurons in real time throughout the depth of a brain structure such as the cerebral cortex. Achieving such a goal will require the coordinated effort of experts from disparate backgrounds, including neuroscientists, optical engineers, biochemists and molecular biologists. The goal of the 27th CVS Symposium is to bring together scientists who develop and use optical imaging methods and will provide a platform to exchange ideas.

Zusammenfassung: This workshop focuses on the processing, modeling and simulation of image data, and in particular, data that is related to humans and human activities. The main core areas consist of image processing, computer graphics, virtual surgeries, and sport sciences. The modern world is full of image data that is not only gathered from the real world via various imaging mechanisms, but also produced through computer simulations in a wide range of virtual settings. In order for this image based information to be useful, tasks such as cleaning up the images, segmenting special features from images, and comparing either the extracted features or the image data itself are essential. These tasks involve processing data that live in a wide range of dimensions, from two dimensional image data to very high dimensional data (e.g. the space of images), and require in depth mathematical analysis, modeling, and numerical algorithms.
