Zusammenfassung: The Third IAPR sponsored conference on Pattern Recognition in Bioinformatics (PRIB 2008) will provide you with an excellent opportunity to present your latest research in pattern recognition and computational intelligence based techniques applied to problems in bioinformatics and computational biology. It will provide invaluable opportunities for academia, scientists and industry professionals to interact with each other and share experiences. PRIB 2008 is being organised jointly by Monash University, Australia and IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition) Bioinformatics Technical Committee (TC-20). IAPR is well known as an association of non-profit, scientific or professional organizations (being national, multi-national, or international in scope).

Zusammenfassung: The ubiquitous nature of information and communication today is often cited as the cause of many security and privacy problems including identity and reputation management, viruses/worms and phishing/pharming. There is strong evidence, however, that this abundance of information and communication has at least as many security and privacy benefits as costs. Consider for example, the use of machine learning algorithms to detect network intrusions, crowd-based approaches to anonymous communication and the use of data mining algorithms to determine content sanitization. All of these efforts benefit from recent advances in AI, which have often been driven by increases in the amount of available data.

To fully realize the security and privacy benefits of today's ubiquitous information, the security community needs expertise in the tools and techniques for managing that information, namely, artificial intelligence technology, and the AI community needs an understanding of security and privacy problems. To facilitate an exchange of ideas between these two communities, we are holding the first workshop in "AISec" in conjunction with the 15th ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS), the new field of security and privacy solutions that leverage AI technologies. Our full-day workshop will be a mix of technical papers and position papers with ideas for AISec's future.

Zusammenfassung: Following 2 previous Noise in Life meetings in Spain (2006) and Germany (2007), "Noise in Life 2009" will focus on cell signaling, regulation of gene expression and neuronal dynamics. There is a nice balance between these three topics to make for an exciting meeting which will improve our understanding of the emergence of mesoscopic dynamics in cell physiology. Zusammenfassung: The IEEE Workshop on Statistical Signal Processing is a unique meeting that brings members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society together with researchers from allied fields such as bioinformatics, communication, and statistics.

The conference will contain a number of special sessions organised by internationally recognised experts. The programme will also include presentations of new results in lecture and poster sessions, together with plenary sessions delivered by eminent scientists.
