Résumé: This course introduces participants to regional computable general equilibrium modelling. Participants will also acquire hands-on experience with GEMPACK software, used to solve CGE models. The course is structured around MMRF, the Monash Multi-Regional Forecasting model. MMRF is a flexible aggregation, dynamic model. It is a bottom-up regional model, containing a combination of Australia's six states and two territories. The model is widely used as a tool for regional economic analysis. Applications have included evaluations of the consequences of changes in regional and national fiscal policy, cost-benefit assessments of large projects and major events, impacts of competition policy reforms, and analysis of greenhouse issues. Versions of the model have also been used in Brazil.

Résumé: Advanced Optical Design Using ZEMAX covers the design and analysis of more complex imaging systems, including local and global optimization, merit functions, thermal analysis, diffractive optics, polarization, advanced tolerancing, advanced analysis techniques, gradient index, fiber coupling, boundary conditions, birefringent media, and other topics. This course includes detailed coverage of the Physical Optics Propagation capability, with discussion of diffraction theory as well as many examples of physical optics analysis.

Résumé: HICSS-42 offers a unique, highly interactive and professionally challenging environment that attendees find "very helpful -- lots of different perspectives and ideas as a result of discussion." HICSS sessions are comprised primarily of refereed paper presentations; the conference does not host vendor presentations.

The conference operation is funded entirely by registration fees; therefore, HICSS is not able to subsidize registrations or offer reduced fees, nor partial registration. All participants and speakers (or their organizations) are expected to bear the cost of their expenses and registration.

Résumé: The purpose of the International Conference on Health Informatics is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) to healthcare and medicine in general and to the specialized support to persons with special needs in particular. Databases, networking, graphical interfaces, intelligent decision support systems and specialized programming languages are just a few of the technologies currently used in medical informatics. Mobility and ubiquity in healthcare systems, standardization of technologies and procedures, certification, privacy are some of the issues that medical informatics professionals and the ICT industry in general need to address in order to further promote ICT in healthcare.

Résumé: This 3-day short course provides a detailed introduction to the use of LightTools for engineers and scientists who wish to model and analyze the interaction of light with opto-mechanical systems. It will assume some familiarity with optical concepts and terminology. You will learn to use all of the major features of the LightTools Core and Illumination modules through lectures, demonstrations, and the solution of exercises in hands-on computer workshop sessions.

Résumé: SIMUTools 2009 is the Second International Conference on Simulation Tools and Techniques. This edition, which builds on the success of the first conference (168 participants from 31 countries), will focus on all aspects of simulation modeling and analysis. High quality papers are sought on simulation tools, methodologies, applications, and practices.

The aim of the conference is to bring academic and industry researchers together with practitioners (from both the simulation community and from the numerous simulation user communities). The conference will address current and future trends in simulation techniques, models and practices, and foster interdisciplinary collaborative research in this area. While the main focus of the conference is on simulation tools, the conference also encourages the submission of broader theoretical and practical research contributions.

Résumé: The goal of this workshop is to bring together OMNeT++ users and their tools, applications and ideas. It intends to provide a forum for presentations of recent developments and novel ideas in the broad context of network simulation with focus on OMNeT++. It will bring together researchers to focus on the important topics of integrating simulation models, coupling different simulation tools, providing better modeling approaches, and contributing to the active modeling and simulation community with respect to identifying some of the most promising candidate solution methods, architectures and techniques to address the various challenges of network simulation. The benefits are two-fold: On the one hand OMNeT++ users get into direct discussion and on the other hand they can meet with developers. Furthermore, the developers can pick up ideas for the future development.
