Résumé: The IADIS WWW/Internet 2008 Conference aims to address the main issues of concern within WWW/Internet. WWW and Internet had a huge development in recent years. Aspects of concern are no longer just technical anymore but other aspects have aroused. This conference aims to cover both technological as well as non-technological issues related to these developments.

Résumé: NPC 2008 hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, will be held from October 18 to September 20, 2008 in Shanghai, which is located along the coast of the East China Sea and the southern banks of the mouth of the Yangtze River, is a city under the direct jurisdiction of the Central Government. Covering an area of 5,800 square kilometers (2,239 square miles), Shanghai has a population of 18.7 million, including 2 million floating population. It is the largest metropolis in China and one of the most historically significant cities.

Résumé: The 2008 Internet Measurement Conference is a two and a half day event focusing on Internet measurement and analysis, following on the successes of severn previous Internet Measurement Workshops and Conferences.

The conference will be held in the Hotel Margi in Vouliagmeni, a seaside resort 30 minutes away from the city centre and airport of Athens, in Greece.

Résumé: A RIPE Meeting is a five-day event where Internet service providers, network operators and other interested parties from Europe and the surrounding regions gather. RIPE Meetings are open to everyone and provide an excellent opportunity for attendees to discuss Internet policy.

While each of these sectors has their own specific characteristics, they have much in common: their adequate operation depends on the effectiveness and interplay of complex physical and institutional or actor networks.

Résumé: Wireless Internet is quickly emerging as a reality, thanks to the fast evolution of many wireless access technologies. Convergence of heterogeneous wireless networks and the next generation Internet further brings wireless Internet into a variety of application scenarios which provide mobile users with a wide range of highly demanding services, such as high speed data and real-time multimedia delivery. On the other hand, it is of critical importance to obtain a fundamental understanding of wireless Internet architectures and explore new services and solutions in order to achieve the ultimate goal of wireless Internet access anytime anywhere.

Résumé: High Speed Internet, is driven by global optical networks utilizing various photonic- and network- technologies, Lambda Grid, fiber-optic, wireless/optical-wireless as enabling technologies for IT and Telecom from the architectural, security, signal transport and application perspectives. The workshop and symposium will span over three days of technical and visionary presentations as well as workshops and testbed experiences; and will include keynote addresses and various plenary sessions on various focus areas consistent with the theme and objectives. The major objective of this 5th International Symposium is to bring together participating US, Malaysian, and the world-wide researchers, educators, students, and industry professionals for collaborations. HONET 2008 thematic focus is high-speed internet, e-government, network security and the enabling technologies.

Résumé: The Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet) is a scholarly community that promotes the development of Internet governance as a recognized, interdisciplinary field of study and facilitates informed dialogue on policy issues and related matters between scholars and governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society.

Each year, GigaNet organizes a one-day research symposium in conjunction with the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and in the same premises. After the first two editions in Athens, Greece (October 2006) and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (November 2007), the third GigaNet Annual Symposium will be held on December 2, 2008, in Hyderabad, India, the day before the 3rd IGF meeting. Attendance at the Symposium will be open to all and free of charge. The Symposium will be at the same location as the IGF and registration with the UN as an IGF participant may be necessary to gain entry to the building.

Résumé: Presentations will address a broad range of topics including the future of mobile end products, mobile market trends, wafer level cameras, image sensor advancements, mobile memory, 3-D system-in-package technologies and much more.

Résumé: The third IGF meeting is to be held in India in December 2008. The Government of India is currently looking for alternative dates in order to accommodate stakeholders from Islamic countries, as the dates originally proposed (8-11 December) would have clashed with a major Islamic holiday. Résumé: The workshop will discuss the interoperability and interoperation aspects of current Grid and Web technologies, production Grids in general, and the interoperability through emerging open standards and well designed interfaces in particular. In the context of this workshop, the difference between interoperability and interoperation is as follows: Interoperation is specifically defined as what needs to be done to get production Grids (e.g. DEISA, EGEE, TeraGrid) to work together as a fast short-term achievement using as much existing technologies as available today. Hence, this is not the perfect solution and different than interoperability that is defined as the native ability of Grids and Grid middleware (UNICORE, gLite, Globus Toolkit, and others) to interact directly via well defined interfaces and common open standards. This will enable cross-Grid use cases and applications from a growing range of domains in industry and science, taking also recent technologies such as Clouds or Web 2.0 into account.

Résumé: IWSOS 2008 is the third workshop in a series of annual workshops dedicated to self-organization in networks and networked systems. The necessity for and expected benefit of self-organization is caused by the growing scale, complexity, and heterogeneity of future networked systems, like the future Internet. For example, these networks will consist of interconnected infrastructure-based, mobile ad-hoc, and sensor networks that could be spontaneously deployed in hostile environments, have a dynamic population and a potentially short life time. In spite of this, there will be stringent user requirements, such as resilience and real-time guarantees. Although self-organization is desirable for these kinds of networks, it is not yet clear to what extent self-organization can be exploited.

Résumé: Over the past decade there has been a growing interaction between researchers in theoretical computer science, networking and security, economics, mathematics, sociology, and management sciences devoted to the analysis of problems arising in the Internet and the worldwide web.

The Workshop on Internet & Network Economics (WINE) is an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas and results arising in these varied fields. The 4th edition of WINE will take place in December 2008, at Shanghai, China --- an exciting megalopolis experiencing an unprecedented social and economical phase transition, and thus a very appropriate locale for WINE.

All submissions will be rigorously peer reviewed and evaluated on the basis of the quality of their contribution, originality, soundness, and significance. Industrial applications and position papers presenting novel ideas, issues, challenges and directions are also welcome.
