3.haut de la page[ID=129745]Quantum Dynamical Concepts: From Path Integrals to Semiclassics
11 Aou 2008 → 22 Aou 2008; Dresden, Saxony, Allemagne

Résumé: Spectacular advances in the technology of ultrashort laser pulses down to the attosecond regime have motivated the development of novel time-dependent methods for the description of the quantum dynamics of electrons in atoms and molecules as well as of the molecular backbone. Large successes for field-driven electrons could be achieved, e.g., by using semiclassical methods, which are based on an underlying path integral. Furthermore, dissipative nuclear dynamics is of central importance, e.g., for the interpretation of spectral information. The path integral formalism again serves as the starting point for the nonperturbative analysis of dissipative quantum motion. Therefore, a workshop bringing together researchers from the fields of path integrals as applied to dissipative as well as driven motion on the molecular scale and from the field of semiclassical approximations shall help to create ideas for developments of even better methodology and shall foster the understanding of the underlying physics.

Interesting results have been achieved based on non-perturbative renormalisation group techniques in the continuum, numerical simulations on the lattice, and new ideas within perturbation theory. This workshop will gather the leading scientists in these fields to share their expertise, evaluate results and phenomenological implications, and stimulate further studies relating these approaches and neighbouring ones.

They are combined to form the Quantum-Back-Bone network, physically connecting five company sites of SIEMENS Austria. We will present the building blocks that are necessary to bring QKD networks to the market. The interface with existing business applications is demonstrated for voice telephony and video conferencing, secured by keys distributed over the SECOQC Quantum-Back-Bone.

Résumé: The 11th Asian Workshop on First-Principles Electronic Structure Calculations (ASIAN11) will be held at the National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung of Taiwan on Nov. 3~5, 2008 and will be preceded by two pre-workshop lectures on Quantum Monte Carlo given by professor Claudia Fillipi on the afternoon prior to the workshop.

This workshop is an annual series beginning in 1998 to provide a forum for discussing all important issues in physics, chemistry, biology and materials science using first-principles electronic structure calculations. The primary purpose of the workshop is to offer an opportunity for exchanging ideas and enjoying in-depth discussion on the methodology and its applications as well as promoting collaborations between participants. The majority of the participants are expected to come from Asia while scientists from other regions are also very welcome. Every time three to five leading scientists from outside of Asia are invited. Following the last Asian Workshop held in Hiroshima University, there will be a competition for the best posters.
