Résumé: TQC2010, the fifth conference on the theory of quantum communications, computation and cryptography, will be held at the University of Leeds from 13th to 15th April 2010. Quantum computation, quantum communication, and quantum cryptography are subfields of quantum information processing, an interdisciplinary field of information science and quantum mechanics. The TQC conference series focuses on theoretical aspects of these subfields.

Résumé: The ASY-EOS-2010 is the second edition of a series of topical conferences taking place in Sicily. The main aim of the ASY-EOS consists of strengthening the link of our scientific community and its engagement in fundamental and basic nuclear physics research to other cultural resources available in our Sicilian territory. The first edition was held in the Baroque town of Militello Val di Catania (CT). This second ASY-EOS-2010 edition will take place in Noto, located in the province of Siracusa (Sicily, Italy). Noto and its natural and historical surroundings have been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.

Résumé: General idea of the conference is to bring together scientists and engineers from different fields (optics, atomic and molecular physics, solid state physics, computer science) which actively contribute to the field of Quantum Optics and Quantum information. The traditional style for this Conference is the oral presentations followed by rather informal discussions, with one of conference evenings being usually devoted to the poster session. This International Conference will be the next one of a series of very successful meetings that were held in Minsk and Vilnius during the last 22 years in 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008.

Résumé: The Conference is organized to facilitate the achievement of scientific excellence within European countries in the rapidly growing field of quantum engineering by providing a programme where leading scientists and young researchers from diverse physics communities will get a chance to present their work, to discuss scientific understanding and recent developments in complementary areas of physics relevant for the quantum engineering of entangled states and quantum devices.

Résumé: EASTMAG – 2010 continues the tradition of important scientific symposiums on topical problems of magnetism and magnetic materials which consolidate scientists from Russia and other countries working in these fields. This series of symposiums started in the Institute of Metal Physics UB RAS (the city of Ekaterinburg, Russia) in 2001. The previous III EASTMAG symposium took place in the city of Kazan, Russia, in 2007. The EASTMAG-2010 Symposium is devoted to the centennial anniversary of the outstanding Russian scientist academician S.V.Vonsovsky, who worked in the field of magnetism.

Résumé: The physics of low-dimensional interacting quantum systems is highly challenging and unique. The program will concentrate on three aspects of low dimensional quantum systems: their unique phases, response to disorder, and their dynamical behavior. Theoretical and experimental research in these areas of condensed matter physics has resulted in a large number of exciting results, new physical concepts, and unexpected connections. Résumé: Continuing the series of alternative and very informal meetings at this venue, the Cambridge University Theory of Condensed Matter group is organizing a sixth International Workshop to discuss the development and application of the continuum quantum Monte Carlo method in condensed matter physics and quantum chemistry. The conference will take place in our 16th Century monastery in the mediaeval high mountain village of Vallico Sotto (in the Tuscan Apuan Alps near the beautiful Italian city of Lucca).

Résumé: The 22nd International Conference on Atomic Physics will be held in the city of Cairns, in Tropical North Queensland, Australia. Following the tradition of ICAP, the conference will present an outstanding program of invited speakers covering the most recent subjects in the field of atomic physics. Résumé: The shell structure of atoms, underlying the periodic table, was explained with the advent of quantum physics. The study of nuclear stabilities led to the formulation of the nuclear shell model in 1949. And twenty-five years ago the electronic shell structure of metal nanoclusters was discovered. The aim of the School is to highlight the unity of physical principles that manifest themselves in systems as diverse as atoms, nuclei, clusters, confined quantum gases, nanostructures, quantum dots, nanowires. These areas are widely different in terms of energy scales and other physical characteristics, but their properties are strongly influenced by the quantization of motion of their constituent fermions. Furthermore, these quantum-scale phenomena have important practical implications. It is hoped that the diversity and the underlying universality of the physics presented at the School will make it rewardingly interdisciplinary and synergistic.

Résumé: The fifth international summer school in the series "Quantum Monte Carlo and the CASINO program" will take place during August 2010 at the TTI monastery in the Tuscan Apuan Alps in Italy, organized and hosted by members of Cambridge University physics department's Theory of Condensed Matter Group. The aim of the school is to give students a thorough introduction to quantum Monte Carlo as a method for performing high-quality calculations of the electronic structure of atoms, molecules, and materials. The course is designed for young quantum chemists or theoretical physicists who have no previous experience with this technique, though anyone interested is welcome to take part.

Résumé: The school and conference will bring together 30 world-leading experts and 120 young scientists in the field of spin coherence, control, and spin-based quantum information processing in solid-state nanostructures. Scientists active in the field will introduce the participants into the basic principles of quantum coherent spin physics, and the fast developments of the field in the last 5-10 years. The latest developments, current trends, and open problems will be discussed.

Résumé: The motivation for this conference is to provide a knowledge base for research in quantum technology in South Africa, with emphasis on quantum cryptography. Interested colleagues, in particular from Southern Africa, are encouraged to participate. But certainly, on the basis of the list of invited and confirmed international speakers, this conference can be of great interest to colleagues from around the world.

Résumé: The interdisciplinary field of quantum information processing and communication connects at its deepest level quantum mechanics, photonics, solid state physics, superconductivity, atomic physics, and electronics with computer science and information theory in order to gain advantages and functionality in cryptography, communication, and computing that are impossible to achieve within the realm of classical physics. Quantum information science has also revitalized the discussions about the foundations of quantum theory. The field has grown rapidly and is now one of the "hottest" subfields in both computer science and in physics.

The International Conference on Quantum Information will focus on physical and theoretical aspects of quantum information processing and communication, as well as on their physical implementation. The conference will bring together key researchers in the foundations of quantum mechanics, quantum information theory, quantum communication, quantum key distribution, and quantum computing to review, present and discuss recent important results.

Résumé: Quantum Optics I was held in Santiago de Chile, in the year 2000. It was thought as the start of a series of conferences through Latin America that would have a good component of 'local' researchers working in the area. Last Quantum Optics conferences took place in: Cozumel, Mexico (II), Pucón, Chile (III), and Florianópolis, Brazil (IV). Quantum Optics V will be held again in the Island of Cozumel, Mexico and will provide a forum to discuss many developments in laser physics and quantum optics, such as quantum optical realizations of quantum information processing, trapped ions, atom optics, quantum computing, and quantum state reconstruction among others.
