5.haut de la page[ID=259700]ANGEL 2010 — EOS Conference on Laser Ablation and Nanoparticle Generation in Liquids
29 Jui 2010 → 30 Jui 2010; Engelberg, Suisse

Résumé: Today, nanoparticles are widely implemented as functional elements in plastics, lacquers and ceramic products. Novel applications are targeted on nanomedicine, sensing, electronics, optics and biophotonics. Nowadays, however, only a limited variety of materials that may be integrated into advanced functional materials are available: Nanoparticles synthesized by conventional gas phase processes are agglomerated to micro powders that are hardly redispersible into functional matrices, and chemical methods often lead to impurities of the nanoparticle colloids caused by additives and precursor reaction products.

6.haut de la page[ID=304576]ICCE-18 — 18th Annual International Conference On Composites/Nano Engineering
04 Jul 2010 → 10 Jul 2010; Anchorage, Alaska, États-Unis

Résumé: The ICCE conference is unique in that while it is an engineering conference, it has attracted numerous chemists, physicists and scientists from diverse fields in our efforts to promote interdisciplinary research on composites. Of particular concern is the challenge for materials engineers to understand the wide diversity of length scales ranging from nano to micro to macro and full scale and to question the validity of the theories or models which are known to be valid only in certain length scales. The ICCE is among the first composite materials conferences which take a leading vital role to bridge the gap between nano-chemistry and nano-engineering, and attracted hundreds of papers in this existing relatively new field of nano-composites engineering.

10.haut de la page[ID=324477]Nanostructured Thin Films III
01 Aou 2010 → 05 Aou 2010; San Diego, États-Unis

Résumé: Nanotechnology, which can be defined as the understanding and control of matter at dimensions between approximately 1 and 100 nanometers, has attracted enormous research and public interest for just about two decades. Nanotechnology is not a single process; neither does it involve a specific type of material. Instead, the term covers all aspects of the production of materials, devices and systems by manipulating matter at the nanoscale. Encompassing nanoscale science, engineering, and technology, nanotechnology involves imaging, measuring, modeling, and manipulating matter at this length scale.

Nanostructured thin films display unique phenomena, thus enabling the improvement of traditional applications or the development of novel applications. The fabrication, characterization, modeling, and manipulation of nanostructured thin films are essential to further scientific progress.

This conference welcomes contributions from industry, academia and government research organizations. Topics of interest cover any relevant aspects of nanostructured thin films, from modeling, fabrication, and characterization to practical applications.

Sujets: Fabrication techniques, Characterization of thin films, Homogenization studies and modeling, Hybrid nanostructures, Multifunction at the nanoscale, Plasmonics, Organic and inorganic nanostructured thin films, Carbon-based nanostructures, Functional nanostructures, Sculptured thin films, Nanostructured porous thin films, Sensing, Functionalization of nanostructures, Biomedical applications, Bioinspired and biomimetic thin films

11.haut de la page[ID=332907]4th International Summer School: Physics of Functional Micro- and Nanostructures
13 Sep 2010 → 25 Sep 2010; Hambourg, Allemagne

Résumé: Functional micro- and nanostructures are essential to the development of novel and innovative technologies. The University of Hamburg is one of the leading international centers in micro- and nanostructure research. In several courses you will get a compact insight into the theoretical principles, experimental methods, simulation of real structures, and topical areas of micro- and nanostructure research. The lectures will be complemented by laboratory visits and computer exercises. Invited internationally recognized scientists will present their research and discuss current topics with you. You can present your own research results in a poster session and discuss them with Ph. D. students from the University of Hamburg. Two excursions to the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) and a company will complement the scientific program. This summer school particularly addresses advanced students with a Bachelor's degree, Vordiplom, or equivalent, Diplom candidates and Master's students.

The summer school will take place in the city center of Hamburg, Germany's second-largest city. The cultural program includes a sightseeing tour and a harbor tour as well as a day trip to the old Hanseatic city of Lüneburg.

12.haut de la page[ID=327081]NanoScale 2010
27 Oct 2010 → 29 Oct 2010; Brno, République tchèque

Résumé: The quantitative determination of the properties of micro- and nanostructures is essential in research and development and is a prerequisite for process control and quality assurance in industry. The knowledge of the geometrical dimensions of structures in most cases is the base, to which further physical and chemical properties are linked. Quantitative measurements presuppose reliable and stable instruments, suitable measurement procedures as well as calibration artefacts and methods. The seminar will stimulate the exchange of information between metrologists, users in science and industry as well as manufacturers of relevant hard- and software.
