 Zusammenfassung Recent years have witnessed a surge of interests in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. This wing of technology covers design, synthesis and characterization of materials at the very low dimension. Nanomaterials find remarkable applications in electronics, photonics, designing logic gates and memory devices, structural engineering, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, and so forth. Albeit, this new technology has the potential to incorporate radical changes to the existing technological approaches, the research work in this sphere is still in its infancy, particularly in India. Hence, to nurture and develop this emerging field we are arranging this National level Conference jointly funded by AICTE and our Institution. The conference will comprise of invited lectures by eminent scientists, followed by oral/ poster presentation of original research works. A proceeding will also be published containing selected papers of original research work. Best three posters will be awarded.

 Zusammenfassung The three days conference NCMAT-12 is aimed at bringing together the scientific and technical community, to share their knowledge in the recent trends on the advanced materials, its applications and various computational techniques for predicting their various properties at bulk as well as nano scale. Eminent scientists in the respective fields will share their experience and knowledge with the young participants, which in turn are expected to promote research activities on the advanced materials. This conference is second in series, the first was organized as MAT-10 on 28th June, 2010 as one day conference and looking to the response of the participants, we have planned this time for three days and also wider the range of topics. The conference will be of great importance in the sense that it will be attended by chemists, physicists, biologists and engineers making it truly interdisciplinary in nature so as to share research findings on preparation, analysis of structure and other properties in the macro to nano scale and their possible application in the medicine, automotive, chemical, electronics and electrical engineering. It is aimed to sensitize the young participants in the theme areas of the conference so as to make them instrumental in pursuing quality research.

 Zusammenfassung With macroscopic mechanical oscillators now firmly exhibiting quantum behavior, micro/nano-mechanics is the third technology - following optics and electronics - to enter the quantum regime. We anticipate that this exciting development will spark new ideas in quantum information, measurement science, and fundamental tests of physical laws. This meeting will provide a glimpse of the latest developments in this rapidly evolving activity. It will include the diversity of physical systems that display the quantum motion of mechanical oscillators, such as: small and large scale optomechanical structures, cold atomic clouds, electromechanical circuits, and hybrids of these systems. Topics to be addressed include (but are not limited to): applications for the newly developed quantum control over macroscopic mechanical oscillators, experimental and theoretical strategies for enhancing and quantum coherence, and fundamental tests enabled by quantum oscillators.

16.DSSR-2012 — “Diffusion, Stress, Segregation + Reactions”
 Termin 01. Jun 2012 → 07. Jun 2012
[ID=440426] Zum Seitenanfang gehen
 OrtCherkasy, Ukraine
 Zusammenfassung DSSR is a child of two 'parent phases':

The first is DSS = Diffusion, stress, segregation-community gathered by Boris Bokstein (National Technical University ?Institute of Steel and Alloys?, Moscow) and Deszo Beke (University of Debrecen, Hungary). The workshops of this Community have been held in Hungary and Russia since 1995. The last one was in Moscow in June 2010. Usually such workshops gathered about 50 actively working researchers and provided extended possibilities for less formal talks and discussions. At the last meeting in Moscow (2010) it was decided that Cherkasy team would try to organize the next DSS using experience and advices of prof. Bokstein and prof. Beke.

The second is DIFTRANS= Diffusion and diffusional phase TRANSformations. Cherkasy team, together with Kiev researchers from Institute of Metal Physics (NASU), Institute of Physics (NASU), Kiev Polytechnic Institute, organize series of conferences DIFTRANS in Cherkasy region, Ukraine, in 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007.

These workshops, though diffusion ? based, have been concentrated more on diffusion ? controlled solid state reactions. They attracted such bright personalities (known as state-of-art researchers in diffusion and reactions) as Francois d?Heurle, Jean Philibert, King-Ning Tu, Frans Van Loo, Patrick Gas, Vitaliy Slezov, Anton Naumovets, Katayun Barmak, Leonid Klinger, Guido Schmitz, Figiri Hodaj... Thus, alternative abbreviation expansion of DSSR is Diffusion-controlled Solid State Reactions.

DSS and DIFTRANS communities overlap partially. Actually, for DSSR we would like to attract at least several researchers from another, third community ? the nucleation one ? the annual workshops at Joint Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna, Moscow region, Russia, organized by Dr. Juern Schmelzer ( Rostock, Germany). Such triple joint will help to concentrate on nano-issues of DSSR.

We hope that interdiffusion of ideas from the three abovementioned communities will be truly reactive and productive.

 Zusammenfassung The 2012 GRC on Crystal Engineering follows the highly successful first ever GRC on Crystal Engineering (2010) which had over 160 international participants. The 2012 Crystal Engineering GRC will also include a new and exciting Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) in which only students and postdocs may present or lead discussions. Both the GRC and GRS on Crystal Engineering provide a forum for the discussion of the current state of the art of this rapidly evolving, highly interdisciplinary field, to identify and debate open questions, and to point out new and promising research directions.

Crystal engineering is the design and synthesis of functional solid-state structures (e.g., new organic molecular crystals and metal-organic co-ordination polymers and framework solids (MOFs)), based on a bottom-up approach from smaller building blocks such as neutral organic molecules, and organic or inorganic ions. Typical design strategies use hydrogen bonds and coordination bonds, which define sub-structural units that are called respectively, supramolecular synthons and secondary building units. This subject cuts across the traditional divisions of organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, making for a very eclectic blend of ideas, techniques, and strategies.

This GRC and the accompanying GRS will provide a forum for the discussion of the current state of the art of this rapidly evolving, highly interdisciplinary field, will identify and debate open questions, and will point out new promising research directions.
