Zusammenfassung: Welcome to the 2008 International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU8). This event is intended to provide a major forum for clinicians, basic scientists, and engineers working on all aspects of therapeutic ultrasound to exchange ideas and present their latest results. The meeting will be held September 10 – 13, 2008 at the Hilton Minneapolis Hotel, 1001 Marquette Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403.

Since their inception in 2001, the ISTU meetings have been strengthened by participation from the therapeutic ultrasound industry. In addition, the meetings have been truly international with well-balanced participation from North America, Europe, and Asia. The organizers of ISTU8 hope to maintain this strong international participation as well as the blend of clinical and basic research contributions to the technical program. The symposium will include three days of technical sessions featuring plenary talks; special sessions with both invited and contributed presentation

Zusammenfassung: Sixth Swedish-Egyptian Workshop in Sound and Vibration Research. A special session about Aircraft External Noise will be organized within X3-Noise Aircraft External Noise Network and Coordination. Key Dates: 15 September, deadline for submission of abstracts; 1 October, notification of acceptance and publication of the program.

Zusammenfassung: The focus of this workshop will be to review the most recent developments in turbomachinery broadband noise. It will provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest techniques for both the prediction and measurement of broadband turbomachinery noise and provide scientists and engineers from industry, research establishments and universities with the opportunity to present new results, exchange ideas and discuss directions of future research.

Zusammenfassung: Der Schutz vor Lärm am Arbeitsplatz und in der Nachbarschaft von Industrie und Gewerbe ist eine wesentliche gesetzliche Forderung bei der Planung, der Genehmigung, der Errichtung, der Abnahme und dem Betrieb technischer Anlagen. Die für diese Aufgaben Verantwortlichen müssen neben den Grundprinzipien der Technischen Akustik auch mit den hierfür relevanten Richtlinien und Vorschriften vertraut sein. Fachleute mit langjähriger Erfahrung in der industriellen Schallschutzberatung und Genehmigungspraxis vermitteln dem mit Schallschutzfragen beschäftigten Ingenieur, Techniker und Umweltschutzbeauftragten die erforderlichen schalltechnischen Grundlagen und wesentlichen gesetzlichen Vorschriften. Übungsaufgaben sowie praktische Demonstrationen bei der Besichtigung akustischer Prüfeinrichtungen und Messräume runden das Seminarprogramm ab.

Zusammenfassung: Over the years during the 20th century every branch of Mathematics, Pure or Applied, has been enriched and developed through continuous efforts, cultivation and contribution by researchers in different fields like Social, Physical, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences. Analysis of scientific thoughts and problems of science and engineering have been made through the language of Mathematics and as a result Mathematics as a subject has got continuous and intensive development through the passage of time. The purpose of holding such conferences is to bring together, on a common platform, scientists, engineers and researchers along with other eminent academic personalities in selected pure and applied branches. They would get ample scope to make exchange of views, ideas and thoughts besides presentation of papers and development of Mathematics as results of intensive research in the area of the conference-themes.

Zusammenfassung: NOVEM 2009, the third in the conference series, will bring together researchers working in the areas of noise and vibration. The goal of the conference is to promote significant discussion and exchange of scientific information.

The conference is targeted specifically at people from research establishments (universities, research institutes) and from industry who are responsible for developments in the fields of noise and vibration design, modelling and control.

The emphasis of the conference is on new and emerging methods, techniques and technologies in acoustics and vibration, focusing on specially selected thematic areas which represent today's major scientific challenges.

Zusammenfassung: The 34th ICASSP will be held in Taiwan April 19-24, 2009. The ICASSP meeting is the world's largest and most comprehensive technical conference focused on signal processing and its applications. The conference will feature world-class speakers, tutorials, exhibits, and over 50 lecture and poster sessions.

Zusammenfassung: It is my honour, on behalf of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM), to invite you to participate in the 12th WFUMB World Congress, to be held in Sydney, Australia from 30th August to 3rd September 2009. We can promise you an exciting and successful congress with a uniquely Australian flavour.

We have a network of professional support including the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the Australian Department of Tourism working together with a Professional Conference Organiser. All of these supporters have considerable experience in hosting large international scientific and medical congresses.

The Organising Committee for WFUMB '09 is dedicated towards designing a stimulating conference that aims to accommodate new developments and applications of ultrasound in medicine. The ASUM shares a common global goal of establishing high standards for safe and effective use of ultrasound in medicine.
