Zusammenfassung: The 2009 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC09) will be held in Dearborn, Michigan, USA. The conference is co-sponsored by IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS). This year the conference will feature the theme of sustainability: hybrid, plug-in, fuel cell and battery technology. The conference also features keynote speakers from top executives of the major automotive companies, and a banquet at the Henry Ford Museum.

Zusammenfassung: Microwave Photonics (MWP) is a cross-disciplinary field governing the study of interactions between optical signals and high-frequency electrical signals with increasing innovative applications and commercial importance in both photonics and microwave areas. This is the first jointly held conference incorporating both the IEEE International Microwave Photonics conference and the Asia-Pacific Microwave Photonics conference. This jointly-held conference provides an important platform for the worldwide dissemination and exploration of new advancements in the microwave photonics fields.

Zusammenfassung: Expository Quantum Lecture Series (EQuaLS) is a series of lectures conducted by members of Laboratory of Computational Sciences & Informatics, Institute for Mathematical Research and Physics Department, Faculty of Science. The main objective of this lecture series is to rapidly introduce and update researchers and students with the latest developments and techniques in quantum science and technology or related areas. This year's lecture series will be on 'Foundations of Quantum Science & Technology 2008'.

As a result, there are emerging and compelling changes in system requirements such as more efficient spectrum usage, higher sensitivities, transmitter/receiver agility, greater information content, improved robustness to errors, etc. The combination of these is fueling a worldwide interest in the subject of waveform design and the use of waveform diversity techniques.

Zusammenfassung: ICOSSAR'09 will encompass every aspect of safety and reliability of structures and civil engineering systems, with special focus on advanced technologies, analytical and computational methods of risk analysis, probability based design and regulations, smart systems and materials, life cycle cost analysis, damage assessment, social aspects, urban planning, and commercial applications. Emerging concepts as well as state of the art and novel applications of reliability principles in all types of structural systems and mechanical components will be included. Systems for civil, marine, mechanical, transportation, and aerospace applications will be discussed.
