TSRC Summer School 2019 — Telluride School on the Fundamental Science of Alternative Energy
15 Jun 2019 - 20 Jun 2019 • Telluride, CO, United States
The TSRC Summer School on Fundamental Science for Alternative Energy introduces principles, methods, and approaches relevant to the design of molecular transformations, energy transduction, and current applications for alternative energy. Energy and environment are likely to be key themes that will dominate the way science and engineering develop over the next few decades. Only an interdisciplinary approach can be expected to succeed in the face of problems of such difficulty hence the team-taught structure of the TSRC Summer School. We hope this course will inspire a new generation of scientists to continue work in the field, or at least to have something of an insider’s point of view as the field develops in the next few decades.

Lake Como School MOFS 2019 — 1st International School on Advanced Porous Materials
17 Jun 2019 - 21 Jun 2019 • Como, Italy
Lake Como School of Advanced Studies
Metal-organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Covalent-organic Frameworks (COFs) are non-conventional porous materials based on the self-assembly of organic/inorganic and organic/organic prearranged synthons, respectively. The extensive library of synthons and synthetic conditions can lead to the formation of a wide variety of MOFs and COFs with functional properties – adsorption, separation, capture, heterogeneous catalysis, sensing, drug delivery, to quote a few – that outperform, in many aspects, those of classical porous materials.

The teachers of this summer school are leading European experts in the field of aerosol science.
ELITECAT 2019 — summer school in catalysis
01 Jul 2019 - 05 Jul 2019 • Lyon, France
A major challenge for scientists and engineers is to develop new reaction pathways which are efficient in terms of atoms, reaction steps, energy consumption and wastes, and more selective and safer. Catalysis plays a key role in the development of new reaction paths and requires of highly skilled professionals who are able to understand their principles and tools in order to pave the way from lab to industrial applications. With this objective, a catalysis training course is hosted every two years since 2013 at the LyonTech La Doua scientific campus, in Villeurbanne, which is mainly aimed at young researchers with interests in the field.
Oxford Summer School 2019 — Chemistry Summer Course in Oxford
07 Jul 2019 - 20 Jul 2019 • Oxford, United Kingdom
This Chemistry summer course focuses on strengthening core concepts as well as introducing new and exciting topics, to go beyond what students might have had a chance to cover at school. Ages 16-18
2 or 4 weeks | Available July - August 2019

TSRC Summer School 2019 — Telluride School on Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics: Theory and Experiment
20 Jul 2019 - 26 Jul 2019 • Telluride, CO, United States
Theoretical and computational models of biomolecular systems are increasingly predictive, providing the opportunity to qualitatively interpret and quantitatively characterize the results of experiment. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has emerged as a major technique for the characterization of protein structure and dynamics, providing the opportunity in turn to benchmark and validate computational models. This Summer School will present state-of-the-art computational and experimental techniques for the study of biomolecular dynamics, emphasizing the synergy between theory, computation, and experiment. Students will develop an appreciation for the nature and scope of each technique.

Summer School 2019 — Spectroscopy and Electronic Structure of Transition Metal Complexes
29 Sep 2019 - 04 Oct 2019 • Gelsenkirchen, Germany
The combination of spectroscopic techniques with quantum chemistry and high-level computation is a fundamental component of modern molecular sciences. This powerful synergy drives cutting-edge research in fields ranging from inorganic chemistry to biochemistry and from catalysis to energy research. The summer school focuses particularly on how this combination is used in transition metal chemistry. Its goal is to provide young scientists with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to achieve this synergy in their own work. The school is addressed to graduate students, post-doctoral scientists, and researchers who want to understand how molecular theory and spectroscopy relate, who wish to enrich their studies, or who plan to expand their research into new challenging directions. The format of the school is equally appropriate for experimentalists who wish to incorporate theoretical input in their own research, and for participants who already have a background in computational chemistry and wish to learn how theory is used for predicting spectroscopic properties.
