Driving innovation in water & waste analysis methods
13 Mar 2018 - 14 Mar 2018 • London, United Kingdom
Abstract:
Clear, up to date methodology produced by experts within their fields is key to the provision of robust, repeatable and accurate chemical and microbiological analysis data. The Standing Committee of Analysts (SCA) has provided laboratory analysts in the UK, and throughout the world, with validated analytical methodology since 1972. The methods are given and shared freely to ensuring quality and consistency in the chemical and microbiological analysis of water, waste water, soils, and related materials, and are typically the methods prescribed by industry regulators. The best way to ensure that the SCA remains relevant, and produces the methods laboratories need now, and in the future, is to bring together analysts, quality managers, regulators, instrument manufacturers and laboratory customers to explore the methodologies relevant to the 21st century laboratory. This two-day conference will showcase the recent progress of the SCA, discuss new and emerging analytical challenges, while also providing opportunities to network and share experience with colleagues throughout the industry.

Faraday Discussion — Artificial Water Channels
25 Jun 2018 - 27 Jun 2018 • Glasgow, United Kingdom
Abstract:
This Faraday Discussion will focus on the chemistry, physics and material sciences contributions toward the rapidly evolving field of artificial water channels. The development of synthetic biomimetic artificial water-channels and pores is key for a better understanding of the natural function of protein channels. It is hoped to offer new strategies to generate highly selective, advanced materials for water purification systems.
