Global Water Conference 2017
16 Aug 2017 - 17 Aug 2017 • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Abstract:
Water resource issues include inadequate drinking-water supply and sanitation facilities, water pollution, floods, the siltation of river systems, and the management of rivers and large dams present special management challenges. Barriers to addressing these issues include poverty, illiteracy, rapid population growth, and ineffective institutions and policies for developing, distributing, pricing, and conserving water resources. The complex patterns of these issues are shaped by differences in wealth, environment, and political systems. The Global Water Conference 2017 supported by Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development, Myanmar (MLFRD) and Southeast Asian Water Utilities Network (SEAWUN)  is designed to facilitate the implementation of the water management policies and encouraging collaboration between those working on water resources management and water technologies, and those working on environmental, public health, economic growth and other issues. This is also an unparalleled platform to get updated on the market direction and explore investment opportunities in the water industry in ASEAN.

PharmWat2017 — International Conference on PHARMACEUTICALS IN THE WATER ENVIRONMENT: Waste water treatment, surface - and groundwater, drinking water production, effect on ecosystems
04 Sep 2017 - 07 Sep 2017 • Prague, Czech Republic
Abstract:
PharmWat2017 is international multidisciplinary conference aiming at discussing the comprehensive issue of occurrence of pharmaceutical residues in the water environment. This is done by considering the entire pathway of pharmaceutical residues from their source (human use of medicines, agriculture, etc.) as sewage water to waste water treatment plants releasing their effluent to surface waters and groundwater, this water being used as source for drinking water production, ending up with drinking water that may contain pharmaceutical residues. The effect of pharmaceuticals on plant and animal life in aquatic ecosystems is also considered. The conference aims to intensify contacts between professionals, scientists, engineers, water managers (river basin administrators, etc.) and policy makers involved in the field (conference themes) of (A) wastewater treatment, (B) surface waters, (C) groundwater, (D) drinking water supply, (E) aquatic ecosystems, and (F) legislation (setting water quality standards).

Canadian Shale Water Management 2017 Conference
13 Sep 2017 - 14 Sep 2017 • Calgary, Canada

The Premier Forum for Shale Water Management, Recycling and Reuse Welcome to the Canadian Shale Water Management 2017 Exhibition and Conference where shale operators and service companies will meet with leading water management experts and key regulators in Calgary, Alberta to explore new cost-effective water treatment, sourcing, disposal and storage solutions for the North American shale plays. While operators adjust to a sub-$50 oil price market, new initiatives towards more efficient and cost effective water management solutions are being explored in order to remain profitable in a lower margin business. Operators are seeking optimal performance and low-cost water management strategies in line with the latest regulations and environmental considerations in order to ensure long-term operational security for a ‘low-to-stay’ oil price market. With the challenges of keeping OPEX down to a minimum, shale operators are faced with the choice of adopting either “low-cost disposal” or “treatment for re-use” strategies to manage their produced water. While the operating costs can vary depending on the proximity of the producing wells to local water-disposal facilities, generally 60 to 80 percent of the total cost of disposal is attributed to water-hauling and transportation expenses. Where possible, operators are finding new and innovative options to recycle and reuse produced water for cost-effective and stable solutions. With developments in treatment technologies and strategic know-how, recent innovations in shale water management offer new hope for operators looking to maintain their economic margins under challenging market conditions and to better manage their wastewater. The Canadian Shale Water Management 2017 conference is set to become North America's leading exhibition and conference exclusively for shale operators and a large array of service providers to explore new opportunities in water management, water recycling and water re-use to improve operational efficiencies and maintain profitability for both pre-existing wells and new operations. The key focus for this year's conference will be “Reducing the Cost of Water Recycling and Reuse” and the objective will be to bring shale operators and service companies together with leading water management experts, including key government representatives and policy think-tanks to collaborate and examine new opportunities in water sourcing, treatment, disposal and storage solutions and to address the real challenges in water management for shale wells across North America.

Water & Waste Water Treatment — “Water Treatment & Management in Mining and Mineral Processing” Short Course
25 Sep 2017 - 26 Sep 2017 • Vancouver, Canada
Abstract:
Water is fundamental to mining and mineral industry and widely used for processing and treatment, heating, cooling, dust suppression, etc. Managing water and effluent discharge quality throughout the mine life is key to efficient mining and has a big role in mining environmental impact and footprint.

Treatment technologies often must deal with regulatory requirements, environmental sensitivity, social issues and conflicts and there are risks associated with each option. Mining companies must treat wastewater to highest standards, need to recycle and have commitment to sustainable water use.

In this course we introduce participants the basic concepts of available technologies and operations involved in treatment and managing water and waste water in mining and mineral industries.
