abstract: The motto of the Conference is “Where we are and where we are going in radiation protection in medicine?”. Thus the focus is to presage next decade. The conference will provide a platform for sharing current developments and examine future trends in radiation protection in all applications of radiation in medicine.

The scope is multidisciplinary, intended for a wide audience of professional involved in radiation protection such as medical physicists, imaging and therapy physicians, engineers, radiographers, as well as representatives of authorities, manufacturers, patient organisations and public relation and risk communication specialists.

The Conference is planned as a three-day program of events, which will include plenary, scientific, and poster sessions, refresher courses, forums/round tables and panel discussions. The major sessions will have invited keynote lectures.

A pre-conference workshop on Radiation protection of children and pregnancy will be organised on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

abstract: MCBEND is a computer program written to solve problems of radiation transport in subcritical systems using the Monte Carlo method. It has evolved through thirty years of continuous development from its origin as a basic shielding code for simple geometries. It is now capable of modelling realistic geometries in great detail and is applicable to an extensive range of problems involving the transport of neutrons, gamma rays and charged particles.
