abstract: One of the leading goals of the ICSM2008 is the continued advancement of Superconductivity and Spintronics-based Science & Technology (S&T) for its effective application to various areas. Device Physics offers significant potential for achieving both the associated mid-term and far-future goals if the difficult work of establishing the proper scientific and technological foundations which can be accomplished in the nearer term. Indeed, many S&T leaders are concerned with the huge potential and opportunities posed by Nanotechnology related Superconductivity and Magnetism. With that general theme in mind, the ICSM2008 will provide a platform, where solid state physicists, chemists and material scientists would exchange knowledge on the latest experimental and theoretical results at the wonderful atmosphere of the conference and its venue.

abstract: Transfer of Knowledge Workshop in Krakow, Poland, should help in fundamental understanding of the phenomena of spin momentum transfer effects. The latest investigations in the field of spin current induced magnetoeffects with emphasis on high frequency and ultrafast switching aspects should contrive to develop the novel model structures of technical devices for applications such as MRAMs, magnetic sensors, magnetic logic and other high frequency devices. This Workshop should help both the scholars and users transfer the knowledge between the research centers, researchers - especially from the New Member States and Associated Countries - and industrial companies, and support investments in MRAMs, Advanced Logic, Sensors and Spintronics and to disseminate the results of their scientific work.

abstract: The purpose of the Summer School is to provide a qualified overview on the rapidly developing areas of spintronics, magnetoelectronics and nanomagnetism.The lectures will be oriented on last year PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. The scientific scope will include important topics, such as half-metals and diluted magnetic semiconductors, hybrid systems, spindependenttransport properties, effects of finite temperatures, spin dynamics, magnetism of nanostructures, relativistic effects, and electron correlations.

abstract: The Congress is organized by the Virtual Institute for Artificial Electromagnetic Materials and Metamaterials - METAMORPHOSE VI AISBL and encompasses a Conference and European Doctoral School. The conference aims to address a wide area of research related to metamaterials, artificial electromagnetic materials and surfaces in the microwave and optical ranges, encompassing general theory, design, applications, fabrication and measurements.
