The conference topics include the synthesis of new multiferroic materials, studies of the fundamental physical mechanisms leading to the coexistence and mutual interaction of magnetism and electrical polarization, the control of multiferroic properties by external electric and magnetic fields as well as pressure, novel magnetoelectric effects in nontrivial topological systems (such as skyrmions), new functionalities of multiferroic domains and domain boundaries, multiferroic effects in thin films and heterostructures, spin-orbit interaction in 5d compounds, utilization of multiferroics and magnetoelectrics for devices and applications, and the theory and modeling of multiferroic properties. The program is designed to cover the broad range of multiferroic and magnetoelectric materials and phenomena with focus on new developments and emerging topics. The meeting will bring together scholars from different scientific disciplines (including physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, etc.) representing all aspects of multiferroic and magnetoelectric materials, from fundamentals to applications. Invited speakers and poster presenters are encouraged to discuss their unpublished results representing the recent progress and advances as well as defining the next challenges for the future development of the field. The format of the Gordon Research Conference will allow for plenty of opportunities to discuss the latest achievements with the focus on extended discussion sessions after each talk, the presentation of results from all participants in the afternoon poster sessions, and with additional time for informal meetings during the afternoon and evening hours. All participants are encouraged to discuss their most recent (including unpublished) results to kick-start new efforts and establish worldwide collaborations.

International Conference on Molecule-Based Magnets
ID
800147
Dates
04 Sep 2016 - 08 Sep 2016
Location
Sendai, Japan
Abstract
We are pleased to announce that the 15th International conference on molecule-based magnets:ICMM2016 will be held in Sendai, Japan. Since the start of ICMM in 1989 in Dallas, the study of molecule-based magnets has expanded into a huge multidisciplinary research area involving large numbers of chemists, physicists, and biologists. Japanese societies have been contributing extensively to the research field, including the first pure-organic radical magnets and studies of d-π systems. Thus, we are assembling experts in the many areas of molecular magnetism from around the world to participate in the fourth ICMM in Japan and to discuss the latest topics concerning molecule-based magnets in the 21st century. ICMM is the largest conference related to the molecule-based magnets. We anticipate fruitful discussions on the latest topics during several plenary, keynote, and invited lectures and poster presentations. In addition, there will be pre- and post-conferences for young researchers: “Rising Star Symposium” and senior researchers. Sendai, the venue for ICMM, is the largest city in the northeast part of Japan. At the seaside, Matsushima bay is known as one of the most beautiful views in Japan. There are many famous temples in the mountains, including the world heritage site Hiraizumi. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Sendai and showing you the beauty of northeastern Japan.
