CSQCD V — Compact Stars in the QCD phase diagram V
ID
786953
Dates
23 May 2016 - 27 May 2016
Location
L'Aquila, Italy
Abstract
The aim of this Conference is to bring together physicists working on strong interacting dense matter, QCD phase diagram, ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions with astrophysicists working on Compact Stars (from their birth in core-collapse supernovae to their old age as cold radio pulsars including binary merger events) and on related phenomena. A profound theoretical description of these phenomena necessarily involves the equation of state and transport properties of QCD matter that are derived from nonperturbative quantum field theories, many-body physics of strong interacting matter and phenomenological investigations.

The CSQCD conference will take place at the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) in L'Aquila (Italy). GSSI is an international PhD school and a center for research and higher education. On May 25 the CSQCD conference will take place at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories (LNGS). LNGS is one of the four national laboratories of INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics). It is the largest underground laboratory in the world for experiments in particle physics, particle astrophysics and nuclear astrophysics. Participants to the conference will be picked up at the hotels and transported to LNGS. An underground guided tour will take place that day.

ID
782396
Dates
09 Oct 2016 - 13 Oct 2016
Location
GRAMADO, RIO GRANDE DO SUL, Brazil
Abstract
Our understanding of the origin of the Universe, of its evolution and the physical laws that govern its behavior, as well as on the different states of matter that make up its evolutionary stage, reached in recent years levels never before imagined. This is due mainly to the new and recent discoveries in astronomy and relativistic astrophysics as well as to experiments on particle and nuclear physics that made the traditional boundaries of knowledge on physics to be overcome. As a result we have presently a new understanding about the Universe in its two extreme domains, the very large and the very small: the recognition of the deep connections that exist between quarks and the cosmos. Based on the understanding of the intimate relationship between quarks and cosmos, the IWARA meetings is focused on topics that connect these two extreme physical domains.
