Meetings/Workshops on Applied Physics: Biophysics and Medical Physics in Germany

Conference-Service.com offers, as part of our business activities, a directory of upcoming scientific and technical meetings. The calendar is published for the convenience of conference participants and we strive to support conference organisers who need to publish their upcoming events. Although great care is being taken to ensure the correctness of all entries, we cannot accept any liability that may arise from the presence, absence or incorrectness of any particular information on this website. Always check with the meeting organizer before making arrangements to participate in an event!

Meeting organizers can submit meetings free of charge for inclusion into the listing.

15 Sep 2008 → 17 Sep 2008; Philipps University Marburg, Germany
organizer: Wilhelm und Else Heraeus Stiftung

abstract: In this conference the role of inorganic colloidal nanoparticles in the life sciences will be discussed. Chemists, physicists, and engineers can synthesis particles with high precision and tailored properties, but they are often not aware of the precise nature of biological problems. On the other hand, biologically motivated scientists are bound to solve their problems with commercially available particles, which still fall behind to the state-of-the-art particles available in modern materials research concerning their homogeneity and defined properties. For this reason the conference attempts to cover the whole interdisciplinary range starting from the chemical synthesis of functional colloidal nanoparticles, the characterization of their physical properties, the design of appropriate interfaces to biology, until their use as in vitro sensors and in vivo labels in life sciences, and diagnostics in medicine.

3.go to top of page[ID=196837]Chemical Nanotechnology Talks IX - Bio Meets Nano
03 Nov 2008 → 04 Nov 2008; Frankfurt a.M., Germany

abstract: This years Chemical Nanotechnology Talks IX, ”Bio meets Nano“, sets its focus on interfaces between nanotechnology and the biologically relevant sciences such as biotechnology, biology and medicine, pharmacology and toxicology. Chip technology, biocidic surfaces and anti-fouling but also improved biocompatibility of materials are some of the topics that will be covered by this years Chemical Nanotechnology Talks (CNT IX). The presentations will cover recent results of this emerging interdisciplinary field. As in previous years, the poster party will provide you with sufficient time for discussion at the posters and with colleagues as an integral part of CNT. This creates a brilliant opportunity for networking with old and new friends. Introduced in the last years we will have a poster prize again, awarded not only with an amount of money but also connected with the opportunity for the poster prize winner, to present her or his work at the second day of CNT IX with a 15 min. short lecture. The best posters will be elected by the scientific committee.
