1.DO 2012 — 8th EOS Topical Meeting on Diffractive Optics

Abstract	We can find diffractive optics in increasingly many applications which are either completely based on diffraction phenomena or for which the diffraction solution is remarkably more compact, light-weight, or cheaper than its alternatives. The 2012 meeting in Delft includes a focus session on Diffraction Optics in the High-Tech Industry. This session gathers scientists and engineers working in the field of diffractive optics in industry and those in academy that work on industrial problems. The Topical Meeting will give attendees a wide picture of diffractive optics, from fundamental modelling of light-matter interaction to design techniques and from fabrication techniques to novel applications. This meeting will be the eighth in a series. Previous meetings took place in Savonlinna (1997), Jena (1999), Budapest (2001), Oxford (2003), Warsaw (2005), Barcelona (2007) and Koli (2010).

Abstract	SPIE Astronomical Telescopes and Instrumentation is the most prestigious event for experts working on ground- and space-based telescopes and the technologies and instrumentation that enable powerful discoveries about our past and provide glimpses into our future. No other event draws the number of elite researchers, innovators, and companies whose collective efforts push the frontiers of space and enable the building and maintaining of the important telescopes of the world. The 2012 conference, held in Amsterdam this year, will cover most of the relevant technological areas in astronomy.
